    I believe I've solved the issue... Loctite threadlocker. By "wiggling" the shaft a few thousandths I was able coax a good amount into the joint. I've used this stuff before and in the absence of air it becomes a Kryptonite. We'll see.

    Follow upquestion on my 5" Wilton restoration.

    After stripping the PO's yellow paint off of my 1980 5" machinist vise, I found some, but few, traces of the 'original blue". More than that though it appears that below the blue, the entire vise has a dark gray finish (not cast iron but paint). Could this be a Wilton primer? Additionally, I've...
