Yes this thread is quite old, but I wanted to thank you for these instructions. Very easy to disassemble.

Show off your "Custom Handled Ratchet"

Swapped handles on my Tekton swivel heads. Tekton had these hex drivers in their clearance section. I was hoping for red hard handles, but these came out nicely. I know others use the 6 in 1 handles, but I thought that was too big for the 1/4”. The 3/8 was $5.85, the 5/16 $4.55 and the 1/8...

    Craftsman 44813 skipping on return

Pulled them out and wiped them down multiple times. Stretched the spring about 3 times. May open it up again to see if I can find a wear pattern on the underside of the pawl that would explain it.

    Craftsman 44813 skipping on return

Trying to determine if this is an issue which needs addressed or not. Also, not sure that I'm using the right terminology on what is happening. When loosening a bolt there are not issues. The pawl locks in place and holds. When ratcheting back for the next swing, there is a strong...

    I guess that’s a possibility.

    Utica parallel jaw pliers ID?

I had found the 402s in that catalog. I can’t find anything that would indicate when they would have changed the model numbers. I can’t find a symbol anywhere on them that would indicate they were made when Utica was part of Triangle corporation along with Bonney and Diamond. I’ve tried...

    Utica parallel jaw pliers ID?

Recently acquired several pairs of parallel jaw pliers, including these marked as Utica on the handle and U18325 around the pivot. I’ve looked at the catalogues I could find on line from the 1910s to the 1970s. None have this model number. They look newer, but I can’t find any information...

Making an attachment plate for vintage vise and stand.

I have acquired a Dunlop 5178 vise from the family farm. It was my grandfather’s. The vise is identical to a Rock Island 574. It weighs around 75 pounds, 4 1/2” jaws with max opening of around 8 1/2”. It was mounted on a very sturdy bench. I also have a very heavy (~80 lbs) vintage cast...

    SnapOn toolbox ID?

Thank you. On the prep, I was thinking of sandblasting them with walnut shells. Would that be too aggressive?

    SnapOn toolbox ID?

i looked through the 1946 and 1948 catalogs. I think the top box is actually a K-56-R, since it has the fold up, drop top. The bottom box looks like the K-77 in the 1946 catalog, but they don't show red as an option that year. In the 1948 catalog, there is no K-77, and the K-377...

    SnapOn toolbox ID?

Cleaning out the shop on the farm. Grandfathers retired abiut z40 years ago and shop really hasn’t seen use in probably 30 years at least. I’ve looked and don’t find a stamping that would indicate model or date. If I can get close on the date I’ll see if I can find some old catalogs that...

    Grinder stand ID

There are bolts on both sides of the open sides thsh I presume held trays. Haven’t found those in the shop yet. My grandfather retired from farming around 1978 and passed away in 1988. The shop got very little use and over the past 30 years basically just was used for storage. We’ve...
