Weld a flat plate to the bottom that comes out about 1/2" all the way around the base, then round the corners. this will give you a nice sturdy base in the garage and nothing to cut into the tile and when working on hot asphalt or the ground. We have to do this to our stands on the race cars...

THe jack stands have bottom plates welded to them. We have to do this so that when we use them on asphalt the legs won't sink in. Track owners get pissed when the asphalt gets torn up, it not so bad on concrete though. FYI
