Sikaflex haze is ruining my new Epoxy floor

Ok, thankfully....the installers were honest and they went ahead and sanded the whole floor and then did another top coat layer.

Sikaflex haze is ruining my new Epoxy floor

OK, tried denatured alcohol, and it performed about just as well as mineral spirits (basically with using a deck brush it gets about..30% off). I think I'm going to try and get the installers to sand and reapply clear coat to the areas around the joints.

Sikaflex haze is ruining my new Epoxy floor

Just a question...but...will isopropyl alcohol slowly dissolve the clear coat/epoxy whereas denatured alcohol won't?

Sikaflex haze is ruining my new Epoxy floor

I have a buffer that I use for car detailing. The textured full flake floor would chew up your buffing pad in about 3 seconds. Just rubbing a normal cloth towel on an epoxy floor will normally make a quick hole in it if you are not careful.

Sikaflex haze is ruining my new Epoxy floor

Ok, so....varied results. It does work, and it doesn't look like it harms the clearcoat. However, ....with full flake, its only rubbing the very top of the floor, so the sikaflex is still in all the valleys. So ...it restores like 50% of the gloss. And...its a slow process, and there is...

Sikaflex haze is ruining my new Epoxy floor

I just had a new epoxy floor done, and I had the company fill the joints with Sikaflex afterwards. They didn't use tape. Instead, they filled the joint, then waited a tiny bit for it to get slightly tacky. They then wiped off excess with a rag (so the sikaflex wasn't level with the floor...

My VCT/Epoxy Install from a Disaster (lots of pics)...$1 sq/ft

From what I've read, there is no asbestos in the VCT....its not just a "name change"....they had to completely remake the product in the 80s when asbestos was learned to be hazardous.

My VCT/Epoxy Install from a Disaster (lots of pics)...$1 sq/ft

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I'm not worried about that at all.....neither are most epoxy owners...I mean, I talked about it before but an epoxy owner, once something got jacked, would wait till the whole garage needed to be redone and then redo the epoxy. But, lets say that a tile did get...

My VCT/Epoxy Install from a Disaster (lots of pics)...$1 sq/ft

Yeah, I did think about it.....but I just took the advice of some other people who recommended the filling of it with feather finish....its an older slab (9 years), and there really isn't freeze/thaw cycles as its a fully insulated garage (it used to be an office for the subdivision developer)...

My VCT/Epoxy Install from a Disaster (lots of pics)...$1 sq/ft

@rwhite692 I don't really know about how much epoxy is used in commercial places...most commercial places just keep paying to have it rewaxed once a week. Though, I do know that epoxy does get used in commercial places...I see it in airports a lot (boise and sacramento airports for example)...

My VCT/Epoxy Install from a Disaster (lots of pics)...$1 sq/ft

Today I finished putting down the epoxy....looking good! I'll take pictures and post them soon. Anyway, no, I'm not really concerned about the hot tire pickup.....just as much as anybody else with epoxy i guess. I mean, with the subfloor there is no moisture to worry about, no grease or oil to...
