    The VISES of Garage Journal

Domestic issues have kept me away from the forum for too long but I did have time for eBay today and caught this baby gem. This 1945 specimen seems flawless from these eBay photo's. If my memory is correct from Autopts info the date stamp at this time was date of manufacture not warranty exp...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Just thought to leave a note regarding Kevin (KMScott) who lives near Estes Park, Colorado. He has been stranded due to flooding and without phone or internet service until a few minutes ago. He's been unable to keep in touch with those of you who may have orders in to him for jaw inserts...

Good looking vise you found. I've just finished cleaning up my first Parker, a 436 and am loving the Parker engineering, smooth operation, and stout iron. This one was used hard but still has a lot of life. To me their jaw inserts are the best. 6" jaws, about 180lbs. 3 boxes to ship, going...

You are welcome Jon. Glad the Canedy Otto is in the hands of someone that will enjoy and use it. Good power in a moderate size on the bench. Great matched pair.

Way to go Kevin. I can relate to the sore back. Great job though.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I've run across the 'V' casting mark several times all on exposed spindle models. Unmarked vises seem to show up predominately in barns. My latest theory is a company produced a generic vise for say a Farm Bureau Co-Op or that can be used for a private label like Milwaukee and Montgomery Ward...

Yes, they will be going up for sale at some point. Gonna take a group to the Spa Monday for a hearty clean-up and pedicures. Kevin (KM Scott) will be coming down to take some measurements for jaw blueprints on the Morgans, Starretts and Parkers. You're right EOC, the Starrett 923 and Ridge...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Got the inventory catalogued from the Golden Co. Collection. The final total was 64 vises. It's interesting, no Craftsman or Hollands in the group. This is a once in a lifetime event I'm thinking. The Starrett 925 will be finding it's new home on the bench of Oldldh.

The Ridgid is a 4" model. The group is in all manner of condition from a few in ICU to some ready for release into the working public. I hope to finish to finish the inventory today and sort through some parts. There is some paper work that may identify 2 large new spindles and an 8" set of U...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Been away from the World Wide Web these last few days working with Mark and the vises of the Golden Co. Horde. Good Times. Wound up with 64 vises leaving Mark still with a large group left. Will be completing the inventory catalogue in the next few days and get some more photo's up. Genuine...

    Hello from Colorado

Hello Mark. Wow, what a treasure trove of vises. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to look at the group. I'm up in Denver and can head down to the Springs at your convenience. Wow, those photo's are too amazing.

I wish my garage was full of SJ's of any size. Very happy with the sale. Thanks to you all for the support. Not finding much out in the Denver market to put into restoration.

Beautiful Restoration. Terrific job. To me the 450 S is the closest thing to the perfect vise for size, meat on the bone, and the Wilton quality of course.
