I see that a lot of these set ups are on larger sized lots.
Is anyone doing this in a residential area?
I may be picking up a new compressor and the idea of having it outside the garage
is appealing but I'm somewhat concerned with bothering the neighbors.
Has anyone done this with noise...
You're probably thinking of standard ±.0001 mics used by 'merica.
±.002 is common for metric micrometers.
Not a bad deal for a Starrett although I would rather hunt CL or ebay for a used Mitutoyo (the non Brazilian ones).

all of these I've found to be extremely useful around the garage

Our biggest customer is Boeing Satellite Systems in El Segundo CA; we make a lot of the cooling pipes, 'heatpipes', that are attached to satellites...

I've had both since I got started thinkering with them in 02, this one is got a stock KA for now.
