good eye, and thanks for the straightening out. everything electric in this 1980 bungalow...the only natural gas is from me and the dog...cant get anything to run on that except for the females in the house :)
I am wanting to add a few additional outlets 120s and 240s, and one for a welder in my garage...
I went to determine my service amperage...and noticed no main shut off. (and no more room) so a new load center is in the future methinks.
the other side of the wall, just the meter.

Its possible the bid was placed to make you go away politely...without having to say it aloud...whose to say, sometimes the small jobs are too "small" for some. Always get at least 3 bids; will give those that are uninitiated a better idea of whats around.
Love the look of you space, and the floor coloring is something im looking at doing, very nice; and love the pine shiplap siding.
RE: tops: get some pronged T-Nuts and matching bolts, drill holes in top of cabinet at for corners and fasten
