    Wiring a static phase converter

Not really interested in a rotary. With my other equipment I use VFDs to take advantage of the speed and reversing features. The saw is going to be on or off so I was thinking static would work fine even with losing a bit of power. There isn't a great link, but these are the specs cut and...

    Wiring a static phase converter

Hello all! I picked up a new table saw with a 7.5 three phase motor. I want to convert it to single phase so I ordered a static phase converter. I was wondering if I can wire it after the magnetic breaker to preserve the factory switches. I know I would have to move some wiring around to drop...

    Tig welding help

Jody does a great job and I have watched hours of his videos. It is taking all my willpower to not break out the mig and just weld it up.

    Tig welding help

Hopefully Sunday I can start welding together my tablesaw mobile base. I am going to tig weld it together since I am new at it and it would be good practice. I picked up 1x3 1/8 stock for the project. I could really use some help picking up the correct rod and tungsten. I have ER70-2 3/32 rod...

    Buying steel in NJ

Last weekend I went to RS Phillips in Vernon NJ, I must say what a great bunch of guys. The yard is full of all types of metals and they encourage you to walk around the yard and take a look. Thanks for the recommendation. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can post what I build.

    Buying steel in NJ

I think Denman and Davis Steel in Clifton might be closed. I googled them and it seems like they possibly sold the business, and the number was disconnected.

    Buying steel in NJ

Thanks for all the input guys! Next week I have a few days off and will post what I come up with. I looked at the Metal Supermarkets website and found some good info, so I will start my hunt there. I am really hoping that I find my "go-to" place since I have some other projects in mind. monk302...

    Buying steel in NJ

Looking to build a mobile base for my tablesaw, a couple hundred pounds i'm guessing approximately 3' x 7 '. I am looking for a place that would be somewhat helpful in the north Jersey area to buy the steel from. I am not even sure what stock size I should use or what it would be called, any...
