    Is this compressor worth $500

I think the real value is the pump. The motor and tank are somewhat iffy as others have said. It seems pretty pricey for what it is.

    Question about painting.

+3. Even if I had the equipment already - for that sort of job it's easier to use rattle cans. You can get good results and don't need to mix/clean guns, etc.. It just makes life easier.

    Nut Splitters?

We must have the same model because I've also run into the space issue. When it works though it's a life saver.

    Carburetor parts dip.

Believe it not I've done several sets of cycle carbs using a hot, white vinegar soak for a half day or so. It really gets them super clean and is very safe to use on copper, rubber, plastic, etc.

Found this compressor while on a drive.

it's a little tough to see but if you follow the grey line coming out of the tank there is a cooler. One thing for sure is that this thing is a beast. I'd love to have something like that. I'll be interested to find out who the manufacturer was.

    Compressor pump

That was my thought. I wouldn't mind finding out what the tank is rated for but I hadn't planned on running above 150. Right now the pressure switch is set to 135-140ish. I'll probably bump it up a tad but that's it. I really am looking for more CFM and a pump that can deliver it a little...

    Compressor pump

I might not be too far off. Looks like the IR ss5 spins off the current motor at 1000rpm the new pumps pully is 1.5 inces bigger so I may be pretty close

    My first pressure washer

Just make sure you drain the lines and gas for storage if you're not going to be using it for a while. Congrats though, pressure washers have a lot of uses so you may not be putting it up for long periods ;') Get used to your buddies asking for a favor! LOL

Duho!:Homer: Well I'll try and make it work. My possible next post "Compressor Motor Opinions" Can I ask what makes you think that's the case? Thanks.

    Compressor pump

Hey thanks kams1973. I didn't know that pump was a Chinese version of a Saylor Beall until you mentioned it and that information was a BIG HELP so I did some research and pulled the plug on one from Compressor World which isn't that far from me. Shipping came in under $100.00. BTW the...

    Compressor pump

Looks like the Eaton pump is actually an Emax pump. Looks like I can get them from a couple of other sources too. Might have to take a leap of faith. If you can believe the CFM ratings the Emax is the better performer. And since I'm really planning on doing more blasting the extra air might...

    Ingersoll Rand compressors?

I have an ss5L5. It's good for light use but gets hot when you move a lot of air. I blew a head gasket and called IR customer service. The advised me that this compressor is not meant for heavy duty use. If you have doubts call them and tell them your needs.
