Thanks, For now, I machined some hard rubber on my lathe to fit the piston. It's working ok. I may try to make a leather one as you described. I'm not sure how they forced it into the .050" groove though.

I checked http://www.hcrcnow.com but all their kits all run approx $50. Couldnot find anything for this one - model 710A. If I had a photo of the what the seal looked like I may be able to fabricate one

This is a very old jack, at least 50 years old. There is a spring loaded ball bearing below the cylinder. What kind of seal do I need to repair this. The old one was leather appears to be cup shaped. Can I enlarge the slot and use an O-ring? Thanks
