Hi I've just acquired a old Record 83 vice. Mechanically it seems fine but the jaws are a bit worn. Any suggestions of where to get replacements? I contacted Irwin who said it was obsolete and they didn't carry parts. Looking at the worn ones they measure about 3.25 in. Any idea where to...

It was the top bit that looked straight to me. I guess it's the camera angle. The continuous curves of the candle holders looks good and you get a lot of light in the area. Googling 'Gothic candle' bought up this design in case you're bored and want to make something for the other wall :)

That's a lovely space you've created. Any reason why you didn't continue the gothic arch theme in the candle-holder thing?

I suspect that says a lot about how well you put it together. I'm disappointed there is no photo of you up in the air welding the end back on. That is how you did it? I assume building a elegant new unit for the a/c outlet will be the next project.

The vertical pieces at either end seem a good idea. But what was stopping the whole structure falling sideways? Was it just held up by the walls of the house and garage? Are you painting the frame now it's in the air? That should interesting. How about suspending a small child from the boom...

On my monitor I think the new grey looks a better match (assuming that's the colour on the left and right). But won't it fade anyway?

And the wind load... I'm sure it will be fine.
