    Mr. Rogers' 13x24 Locost Factory

It's been a while since I posted in here. I haven't really done much to my garage since I last posted here, but I was able to hit a big milestone in my Locost project: I got to start my engine and have it sort of run for the first time! If you care to read way too much backstory on what I've...

Regulator stash - what are they?

Hey gang, I seem to have accumulated a pile of regulators - some my dad gave me, some from other giveaways, etc. I know what a couple of them are, but some I have no idea what they're for. Does anyone have any information on what I've got and what they're used for? Also, are they worth trying...

    Air hose reel which one

I bought a Coxreels EZ-Coil 3/8"x50'. It works for me. I like the lower retraction speed of it compared to the standard ones. It's less "whippy". I think it was ~$260 with free shipping.

Actual Air Line Installation Data - Black/Galvanized/Copper/Aluminum

    1. What air line did you install? Copper with nylon flexible air line between compressor and copper and to make a connection to my hose reel. 2. How many years has your air line been installed? Two months 3. Do you have any major problems with your system? There were leaks at all of the pipe...

    Welding helmets

I have a Miller Elite from a few years ago. It's done me very well in my welding classes and home projects. One of the benefits of having an adjustable shade is adapting to different welding processes--Going from MIG to TIG to FCAW requires different shades. The "reset" button will help with...

1" mnpt to 4" mnpt reducer

Just for supplier variety, McMaster-Carr has 'em as well. http://www.mcmaster.com/#double-tapped-bushings/=ft3qph Part 6850K41 But the PEXSupply.com is cheaper, at least before shipping.

what do you use for grinding welds ?

I'm particularly fond of the Camel Grinding Wheels' Zirconia flap discs on my 4 1/2" angle grinder. The one I've been using has lasted me for about a year now (I'm not doing production work, but still, it's a long time).

My IR 175 psi compressor needs to dial down to meet air filter--can I do that?

Bingo! http://www.ingersollrandproducts.com/IS/product_nospecs.aspx-am_en-34832 Your regulator is good for the inlet pressure, the polycarbonate bowl is what's the limiting factor at 150psi. You've already got the regulator plumbed in, so why not just order the replacement metal bowl assembly...

    $105,000.00 Tools/Toolbox on Ebay

Don't forget the $40,000 worth in bananas and sports drinks. You'd think he could pay someone to spend a couple hours to inventory everything if he's asking that amount of money.

    What to do before drywall?

You might want to add in a 220V outlet somewhere. If you acquire a tool or appliance that needs that voltage later on, you'll be good to go.

    Compressed Air Drain Valve help

My filter/regulator has the same sort of drain that dwm posted. It's a passive drain that uses the air pressure on a float to seal when there's no water, but the water will then displace the float, and drain until the float reseals. It's honestly one of the most clever things I've ever seen. I...

Cox Reel LG series Hands On?

Yeah, you might need a little bit more than 20' of hose. I have their EZ-P-LP-350 (50' 3/8" included) and I love it. Absolutely love it. The price difference between mine and the less-hose option was less than $40. Might as well get the USA-made hose from them then, and it comes preinstalled...

Disposal of replaced tools? Donate? Recycle?

In my less-sophisticated, apartment-dwelling days, I had a cheap set of Taiwanese wrenches, sockets and ratchets, etc. I've since purchased a bunch of Craftsman tools off Craigslist to replace them. I can't say that the cheap set is complete anymore, but I've got perhaps 2/3rds of it remaining...

    Air Lines for Compressor

Hey, I have that same Husky air compressor. I have some pictures of what I did for my filter/regulator set-up and distribution in my garage thread. Like previously mentioned: have a flexible line from the compressor to a tee, one leg down to a drain, one up to the rest of the plumbing. I'd try...

    Air hose connectors/fittings

I went down to Ace Hardware for some extras. They carried "Coilhose Pneumatics" brand couplers. The "Industrial" type females were ~$4.50 each and males ~$1.50, if I recall correctly. Made in America, and Ace is mostly everywhere. http://www.coilhose.com/
