Speedaire Direct Drive 80-Gallon 5HP Compressor from 1987

It’s been awhile since I last posted. Years, I think. I’m interested in your thoughts regarding this compressor that I just picked up for my brother’s new shop. I do not have any experience with the direct drive models but this thing looks like a beast. Here are a few pictures…

I really hope that one of you gets this vise. I am sad to let it go but need to lighten up considerably due to a move that we must make across the country. Look for an old Fisher Eagle 100 pound anvil to be listed for sale soon... I dreamed of having the Wilton no 60 and the Fisher anvil in my...

Resurrection of this old thread... Just wanted to say hey folks. Matty is twice as old as he was when I started this thread and the old swivel jaw Wilton is four years older! I had thought about building a plywood crate for it and selling it on ebay but im not really hurting for the cash. If a...

I rarely get by this board. There is a wealth of knowledge here. I had planned to eventually use my old No. 60 but my shop is still my garage. If anyone stumbles across this thread that is interested in buying it from me, message me. Those who I have previously spoke with should likely look...

    Removing chrome from aluminum?

Send Chris Peters an email at [email protected], he is my hard chrome guy and will be able to tell you exactly what you can and can't plate. He can also strip chrome off of anything... He owns Metaloy Industries and is one of the best firearms finishers in the business so tools will be...

My thoughts are, why would my vise be marked "Chicago" and "Pat Pend" if it were a 1971???

One thing I wanted to add to this thread is that I did pull the dynamic jaw out and found the three digit code stamped on the key way. The number "672" was there which threw me a curve ball! Was my vise repaired by Wilton in the late 60's and did it receive a new date stamp? Comments???

Guys, thanks for the comments! Y'all certianly are not making my decision easy. I will likely grease it up. Crate it, and store it. If someone contacts me that just has to have it, maybe I will let it go. Right now, I will just sit on it and get it out of the kitchen! Now, I need to find a...

Now, I am crating it up and getting ready to ship it to the Smithsonian! Not really, but I have a lot of thinking to do. A new C-2 or C-3 looks awful tempting...

I wish flickr would play nice. maybe you guys will get to see all of the pics if it decides to work right. Brent, it was told to me that the swivel jaw was for gripping triangular shaped items. I have never had the need for a swivel jaw either… I just happened upon this one!
