Chimney Flashing - Masonry Chimney to Metal Roof

It's a pole barn metal roof with a 16" masonry chimney on the even end. How is this worthless without pics? Extremely common..... Anyway, I built a cricket and plan on installing it with some good sealant and sealing around the sides of the chimney with the same. Is that what is typically...

Chimney Flashing - Masonry Chimney to Metal Roof

Anyone know how this is done? I just built a chimney and now need to seal it to the metal roof on my pole barn but since the metal roof is not flat like shingles, it seems like it's going to be tough. BTW, the chimney is on the eve end. I was not able to put it on the gable end. Any ideas?

Sheeting Walls Inside Pioneer Pole Building??

You're correct, the block holds the header, not the truss directly. Sorry about that. You sheeted yours the way I should have. Also, I'm not saying these braces are not necessary, I just know there's more than 1 way to skin a cat. I know these things are going to look hideous once I sheet...

Sheeting Walls Inside Pioneer Pole Building??

hey all, I have my 30X40X12 built and insulated and I'm ready to sheet it with OSB. The problem is pioneer took the cheap way out on attaching the trusses to the poles! On the inside of the pole instead of using lag bolts they nailed the truss over the pole and then to get extra support the...

In-floor heat: What's your fuel cost?

    1/3?? how do you figure?

In-floor heat: What's your fuel cost?

Wow, that's really reasonable. I have a 30X40X12 and I can only hope my costs are as low as yours. Unfortunately, I don't have my building heated this winter.

In-floor heat: What's your fuel cost?

You can search and search on here and you won't find your answer. Trust me, I have. All you'll find on here are answers from users like Fastback that are completely obvious and tell you nothing. They will also try to sound like they are some sort of heat transfer genius. I know a guy with...

Cost to Heat 30X40X12 with Electric Boiler and Hydronic Radiant Floor in Northeast?

As the title says I built a 30X40X12 in PA and installed the tubing for floor heat in the slab. The ceiling will be R-30 and the walls will be R-23. The floor is R-10. (2) 10X10 garage doors, 1 man door, and 2 windows. I'm getting about 12k BTU with a minimum temp of 0F and IDT of 60F...

Hot Water Baseboard vs Staple up Radiant

I'm really torn right now. I can either put a coal stove in the basement and leave the floor uninsulated and basement door open or I can stick with oil hot water heat and convert to floor heating and then insulate the floor. If I insulated the floor and went with the coal stove the...

Staple to Foam or to Mesh and in Center of Slab?

Can anyone explain why the pex would float?

Staple to Foam or to Mesh and in Center of Slab?

I have all my tubing run, stapled to the foam with no problem at all with it 'floating'. Why would the tubing pull the foam up? Mine lays perfectly flat. Why would it 'float when we pour the concrete? I'm just not following...

Hot Water Baseboard vs Staple up Radiant

I can do the math on BTU's and efficiency for propane and oil and agree, I would definitely switch to propane or electric (no gas service) if my oil burner ever died but it's in good shape yet so I don't have to go that far. I'm really just looking for the difference in efficiency for the hot...

Hot Water Baseboard vs Staple up Radiant

It's hot water baseboard, not forced hot air. I'm not sure where you guys got that. Anyone ever done this??

If you cant get gas to the garage.. how can I heat it up

Do the math for electric vs propane/kerosene/fuel oil. $/BTU electric is really not that bad anymore! At least in my area.
