Interesting, so you don't use a proprietary oil cooler? Just the copper coil into a series of tees with no other cooling method? It sounds pretty effective. Do you have a pic or diagram? Thanks.
Well, for better or worse, this is where I'm at (see attached pic). About 50 ft of 3/4, then going into this guy (http://www.pneumaticplus.com/pneumaticplus-sau-series-three-stage-air-drying-system-1-2-npt/) then 1/2 inch after that.
All joints pressure and leak tested 100% so not so bad for a...
I'm about to start running copper air lines for my 5 hp 60 gal compressor around my shop. I've got a mix of 3/4 and 1/2 type L 10 ft pipes from HD and just waiting on the fittings to arrive from supplyhouse.
I'm working on the premise that 50 ft of 3/4 copper will cool the air sufficiently...
Thanks for all the input - much appreciated. I've done yet another full 180 with my approach to airlines. I'm running 50ft of 3/4 L copper to try to cool the air before it hits the separator then forks off around the shop from there. Just waiting on fittings to arrive then I'm into it.
Intended...
I'm up to the last stage of my shop build - compressor lines. Attached is a pic of my compressor, hiding behind 5 layers of 5/8ths drywall with inlet and outlet fans to manage heat. Does a pretty good job of suppressing the noise - both for me and my neighbors. Still feel the thumping pretty...
I like the aftercooler idea and am considering a Hayden 1260. I want to start off with a basic install - oil cooler only with no fan or water filter. Will have a water drop and then uphill copper pipe back to the compressor.
Anyone run a similar configuration? In your experience is the filter...
Thanks for the responses - much appreciated.
I've been in two minds between copper and black pipe but thought I was set on black pipe. I'm thinking the pendulum's swung back to copper - easier to deal with on my own, being more malleable and a lot lighter.
I priced up the two today and was...
Hey guys/gals, I've been a big fan of this site for a quite awhile and has been invaluable in helping me thru my 1,000sqft garage/workshop build decisions. Almost there and will post up pics when I'm done.
Last stage is putting in air lines for my 5hp compressor. I've decided to go with black...
