    Latest Cripe haul

I recently discovered Cripe on ebay. Their offerings on eBay usually seem like outstanding deals to me . I'm constantly browsing their listings looking for bargains on tools I really don't need.

Anyone use a breaker bar for lug nuts?

That's a nice tool! All speed wrenches should have that flex head. Who makes that?

Anyone use a breaker bar for lug nuts?

We've had several Jeeps and Mopars over the last 20+ years and corrosion really hasn't been the issue. The problem is just that the caps get beat up and deformed from using impacts. Part of my solution is using the breaker bar, the other part is using a 19.5mm deep socket. This combination works...

Anyone use a breaker bar for lug nuts?

I've got a few impacts, but I feel the breaker bar is easier on the crappy capped lug nuts on my vehicles. I usually break them free with the breaker bar and finish removal with an impact. Installation is the opposite. I snug them with the impact and torque them on with the breaker bar (no I...

Incomplete Wright Set with Different Gen Wrenches

Yeah, I replaced a missing Craftsman wrench with one from eBay. It appeared the same online but turned out to have a somewhat different angle on the box end. Hopefully, one of these days I'll come to terms with this situation and stop tossing and turning all night thinking about that wrench.

    Panavise vises

I've been using one for about 35 years for working on various electronic and electrical assemblies. I think that is Panavise's primary and intended market. They work very well in for these light duty applications. Can't ever remember having one fail on me. I think they work great when used...

OEM Briggs $60 replacement the carb same as $15 ebay/amazon?

Picked up a used MTD/Tecumseh snow blower for my son last year. Went the cheap route and put the $12 eBay carb on it. Hate to admit it, but it worked great. How can they do is so cheap?

Does it still make sense to buy 3/4 drive tools?

Sometimes you need the big sockets to get the job done. Axle and pinion nuts is where I've needed mine. I currently have three sockets and one 3/4 - 1/2 adapter. These have gotten my by to this point. Though, I should probably up my game. Because, you never know... Perhaps a nice shiny 3/4...

    What's your go to screwdrivers?

I just received a set of Williams screwdrivers. They are nice tools, however, one of the slotted drivers is defective - the plating on the tip is chipped. Kinda disappointing. Hopefully getting it replaced under warranty won't be a hassle. I guess they could have been my favorite were it not...

Looking for a nice under $200 Tap and Die set.

I've got the HF combination metric/standard set. I don't use it professionally or on a daily basis, but it has worked fine for me the several times I've needed it. I haven't run into a problem with it not having the thread size needed.

Anyone else a Sun Equipment junkie??

Awesome thread, great stuff and memories in here. I don't think I've heard the term "VAT-40" since high school auto shop in 1981. Good times!

Let's talk about wire cutters and strippers

For the last few years I've been using the Paladin Tools GripP 20 (30-20AWG) strippers. I like them a lot. On the other hand, I really dislike automatic strippers. Too bulky and clunky for me; nonetheless, some think they're great.

    Favorite Oil Filter Wrench?

All depends on the car and accessibility to the filter. I don't think there's any clear cut winner. Day in and out the metal strap type do the job well. Sometimes only the socket type will work. Other times the pliers type or a big Channellocks are the ticket. Now that the automakers have...
