leaving the garage door open - solution for forgetful kids

I have the same system for my garage door, and love it! With the direction my house faces, occasionally the sun will "blind" the sensor, and the door won't close. Or my wife or son will double-punch the remote leaving the door open. I love being able to close it from anywhere. As my son is...

    HD or lowes kit sheds

Not much to add other than to agree that building one from scratch is cheaper, and better constructed. I built mine (as was suggested earlier) 8x12 with 8 ft walls so I didn't have to make very many cuts. Where I am, anything under 100 sq ft doesn't require permits, so 8x12 is a perfect size. I...

Too lazy to use power tools

I had a shop teacher back in the early 80's that didn't believe in power tools. He felt it taught us better skills to use hand tools instead. I recall it taking an entire semester to build a paper towel holder that I built in 10 minutes using power tools... ahh, memories.

    help with my garage

Not even on the radar of the original question, but I like (?) the extension cord stapled to the beam with the opener plugged into it. I'd think it wouldn't cost even $50 to run some romex and put in an outlet next to the opener. Added advantage of gaining another outlet in the center of the...

    Re-Roofing Garage and have a few ?

Here, architecturals are actually cheaper than 3 tab. Strange. Architecturals carry a lifetime warranty here, too. 3 tabs are normally 25 years. As mentioned, you do need to buy 3 tabs to turn into a starter strip and ridge shingles. On a garage, you might need enough that you could just buy...

    Christmas Present for Dad

Both those sets are nice, affordable tools. Some folks on here are going to talk about COO, but if that isn't important to you, I think dad would like those tools very much. I know I would. Although I'm set in ratcheting wrenches. You can never have too many vise-grips!

    Tool chest for garage/home use

Before I discovered this forum, I bought the Craftsman 26" bottom and top, then added the intermediate. Looking at a few of the tool box threads, I still like my Craftsman, but, doing it over, I would look closer at the HF. Problem for me, the spot I keep my box is a tight fit for the 26, so...

    Newbie from MT

Getting a log in notice that I've not posted yet, so fixing that... Not much of a garage, but the tool collection is growing, thanks to this forum! My wife already doesn't like y'all! Getting close to retirement age (or it feels like it, anyway.) Need another hobby, and always have...
