engraved (lightly) snap on tools. How to I remove the engraving?

I engrave all of my tools. Always engrave or somehow mark your tools. If they are stolen it is the only way to prove they are yours. Otherwise the person can simply state they just own the same ones. I trust a lot of people. Work with a bunch of good guys all my tools are engraved even the bits...

    3/4 Drive socket set.

I guess people in the Big Rig field are harder on sockets then most seen all the cheap sets fail. Even twisted the head off of Extensions more then once.

Leaving garden hose connected in winter

First world problems.... Now this is just a though maybe I am wrong here but, if you rinse your car off in the winter and it is cold enough to freeze don't you get an icy car? On the same note. Stop being a wuss put on a pair of jersey gloves and connect/disconnect the hose and switch back...

Extra Long Flex Box-end Spline Ratchet Wrenches

As someone that turns wrenches for a living and is constantly asked for advice on them by other co workers. I say 1 set of Metric Flex Head Gearwrench and 1 set of Metric Mountain splines. The metrics will fit most of the standard bolts you run into outside of mechanics. In all honesty I have...

Is the harbor freight tap and die set gtg?

Actually the thread restorers are all built by Kastar. They are worth buying I personally own the Matco ones. The tap and die sets are Irwin and hansen and ****. HF taps ****. Unless it is HSS (High Speed Steel) and/or properly cut and ground very high carbon taps aka not Irwin or Irwin...

If you could only buy 6 Knipex tools, which would you choose?

Knipex i use for diag side cutters. the cobras are ok but i got proper wrenches and other tools so those really are useless in my case. I almost always buy channel lock over any other offering because they just work and last. As a big rig tech you find out what really hold up and fast.

Stuck Bolts: Anyone think PB, Kroil, ATF/Acetone are all useless?

Maybe this was already hinted on but, wire brush first then soak for 20mins, no matter the brand . If there is so much rust buildup (as in where i live nj brine is bbbbaaaaddd) it will seal the head of the bolt to whatever you are working on. Wire brush, use Sili-Kroil not reg Kroil, let sit...

Largest wrenches needed in Automotive/Light Trucks?

36mm and 1.5" for wrenches and a 15" Adjustable (A good brand). That will be all you need for cars and light trucks. Most diesels do not use stuff bigger then that where you would use an actual wrench. Except fan drives and a few other odd things.

    Best lube for ratchets????

I use Lubriplate No. 105 Motor Assembly Grease White Motor Assembly Grease Wouldn't recommend it to people that are not techs tho You have to do it about once every 6 months and it can leave buildup behind.

Dialarc, HF Box, and a cracked oil pan

Bar the engine over by hand before you do anything. See if it is even worth your time. That takes 15 mins tops on a crank pully bolt. The pan is cast. Forget welding it. It will be a pain and it would take most good welders a while to do that. If you are going to weld it. You have to remove it...
