    DIY Supplied Air Respirator system

Thank you so much for your candor and comprehensive response. I have since eliminated the spigot valve that was all I had on hand at the time. I will see about adding another drain valve before the filter setup. You are very correct in your evaluation of my ability, I am a complete...

    DIY Supplied Air Respirator system

Thank you for this response Yeti, much more informative. I have read the article and some other sources and am still confused as to why so many of you think this is a horrible idea... My filter setup includes the PneumaticPlus SAFM3000M-N03BD-MeP – 3/8” NPT Coalescing 0.1 Micron Filter as the...

    DIY Supplied Air Respirator system

What I am gathering from your collective responses is that there is not adequate filtration inline between the tank to filter out the bacteria thriving in the moist environment within the tank, or the dangerous airborne particulate matter being drawn in from the work space. My solution should be...

    DIY Supplied Air Respirator system

Hey Garage Journal, I don't know if this has been posted before, but here was my take on the project. I wanted a moderately comfortable and versatile supplied air system to use while working with dangerous particulate matter, fumes, and other things I did NOT want in my respiratory system...

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

I've got one that is fantastic and recent and I am not even ashamed, because I am a ******* idiot and there's nothing to be ashamed about recognizing who you are. Here goes... Putting up shelving on masonry wall. I had just got some 3/4" wedge anchors, paid almost nothing, and wanted to try...

Has anyone done a custom fume extractor arm?

This is getting very close to what I want. Thank you for sharing! I will probably end up doing a ceiling mount version of this setup, and I will share pictures with all of you so I can hear what I did wrong:lol_hitti I want this to be a catch-all particulate / fume extractor so I will...

Has anyone done a custom fume extractor arm?

Thanks for the links! What an awesome find. If I could pay 100 for that today it'd be done. Where do you find out about these auctions?

Has anyone done a custom fume extractor arm?

I was thinking about something with a ballast at the end, I have a desk lamp that uses a ballast and it can be re-positioned fairly well and stay put. But just to put things in perspective, I'd want it to be usable in a roughly 20' x 20' area. The more coverage I can get the better.

Has anyone done a custom fume extractor arm?

You would rather pay for one straight up? Is there a cheap option out there besides grainger that is good quality? I want it to be usable over a large area.

This is exactly my plan, and I have already made a direct air supply respirator. I will post up pics when I have a chance to see if it is up to snuff.

    Need help designing ventilation system

I live in a Mediterranean climate. All of my tools and work stations are on wheels so my space can be reconfigured based on project. I do more than just work on cars, so I like having everything modular and re-configurable. I already have a dust collector w/ 1550 cfm/ 2 micron bag, and that is...

Has anyone done a custom fume extractor arm?

I want something fairly large and light that I can mount centrally in my work area and maneuver easily over whatever I am working on. I have a number of different openings I have made out of fiberglass to use on the end of the arm depending on project / need. Here is a prop and mold Now I...

    Need help designing ventilation system

Hello Garage Journal! I am having trouble designing / finding parts for my ventilation system.... My garage is about 14,750 cu ft. I would estimate about 4,750 cu ft of space is taken up by solids, leaving ~10,000 cu ft of air. I have 2 wind powered roof turbines, each with a throat...
