The lid won't close all the way then. From what I read you would have to get a different gas shock to make it work correctly and possibly reposition where it attaches to the lid as well. I think people here have tried it.

Yeah I plan on putting magnets and wrenches on the lid and I've heard the extra weight on the lid ruins the shocks pretty quickly so I figured I would just put the hinges on now. If I wasn't putting anything on the lid I would probably keep the shocks however.

Here's my cart with the mods i've done so far. Still need to mount my HF 18" magnets to the lid. Did some closeups of how I installed the snap-on hinges. Used a step drill bit from HF to widen the holes on hinge part that connects to the lid.

I got the idea from an earlier post in this thread. HF sells packages of rubber grommets for like 4.99. It had all the sizes I needed for each hole. The largest size was kinda tough to get in but if you keep working at it they will eventually go in. I was short a few of the largest and 2nd...

Got my 5 drawer few days ago. Mods I've done are the rubber grommets in the screwdriver holes, swapped out the 2 fixed casters with 5" swivels from HF (blue color), ordered snapon hinges, replaced drawer liners with 3mm yoga mats, disabled the locking mechanism on the back of all the drawers so...

Pull the drawers all the way out and there are little levers inside the track. One side you pull up and the other you push down and then pull the drawer the rest of the way out.

I was wondering that too but from reading through this thread I believe it is for a pair as people were saying this upgrade to the hinges was only a $10 upgrade. Unless the hinges used to be only $5 a piece.

Anyone know if the snap on hinges are still available for the 5 drawer? Just put mine together but would like to swap out the lid struts with the hinges. When I click "add to cart" it just says it is redirecting me to the snapon online catalog but then I can't find it. Part # KRBC8T9
