How hard is it to drill through the steel to attach a vice to the bench-top? I'm liking the steel idea and if I can get it for less than a couple hundred bucks that's even better.
Longevity and durability are important to me. :-)
WOW! does that look awesome!
Any ballpark on what something like that would set me back? dimensions are rougly 99" x 23".
I take it it comes as a sort of "shell" that just fits over the top of the workbench?
Hey all - finally finished my workbench this weekend.
I may have gotten ahead of myself with the top. It's basically going to be for working on car stuff. No woodworking on top.
I'm looking for some type of durable top cover that can withstand spilled oil/grease/light dings/scratches better...
these have caught my attention, and i'm assuming would be less of a risk on the epoxy floor... http://www.iec-corp.com/nyl_swivel_stud.html
edit: just realized they may not be easy to install on the bottom of 4x4s
double-edit: looks like maybe a hole drilled in the bottom with a tee-nut from...
First off - thanks to everyone who replied and all the great suggestions!
I honestly did try googling but I'm new to the "handyman" stuff! LOL "leveling feet" does bring up a wealth of results that will help in my quest.
Gang, I'm building a workbench this weekend, and I'm thinking long-term here... I plan to use (4) 4x4s for the main support legs. My garage isn't perfectly level and I admit I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I assume this workbench will long outlive my current home so I'd like to figure out a way to...
Epoxy-coat is a 2-part to 1-part mixture. I know that my measurements were correct there. I used a drill-mixer that was included in the kit with a timer set to 3 minutes after each mixing. However, I did not use a spatula or scrape the sidewalls, as the instructions that came with the kit did...
Funny you should ask. No, it has not hardened completely yet... I emailed Epoxy-coat yesterday but haven't heard back yet. It's hard enough to walk on and I'm storing stuff out there with no problems (shelves are up, etc). However, I had a little mishap when trying to park a car on it for the...
Hey all,
I finished my epoxy-coat on Monday morning, and although it's pretty hard and I can walk on it with no problems, I've noticed I can still dig my nail in and leave a mark. I have to try, but I figured this was a good way to test. Is this normal? Does it ever get "rock" hard?
I want to...
TJ, I bought the two-gallon kit and have a bunch left. If you're near Raleigh, NC I would sell it to you at a hefty discount, not sure I'll ever use this stuff again in my life! (sorry Scotty! :-), the stuff worked great though!)
Scotty, can I apply a second coat of HD-821 above the first one sooner than 24 hours? Will there be adhesion problems to one another if I do? I was hoping to get the floor laid down tomorrow evening (first coat). I filled the expansion joints, but even though I pressed it down in as best as I...
Understandable. I ordered an infrared thermometer that will be here tomorrow. That'll give me better insight into what's going on with the concrete temperatures.
In your experience, does concrete hold it's temperature well? It's 78 here right now, but will be in the mid-low 30s on Friday...
