Most important, but least used tool?

One that comes to mind for me is my Cricket squeeze ratchet. It's great for those tight spots where you can only get one or two clicks with a standard ratchet. A few quick squeezes and the fastener is out. I don't need it but a few times a year, but when I do, it's nice to have.

Most and least common SAE socket and wrench sizes

Same here. I had to scratch my head on that one.

    Workbench top suggestions

IF you choose to lay stainless steel on top of your bench, it will most likely have to be attached mechanically not with an adhesive. Stainless steel is made so that nothing can stick to with ease. Hence the name "stainless." If you choose to try and bond it, you'll have to scuff the hell out of...

Antique Fan Restoration-Please Recommend Good Flathead Screwdrivers

For stubborn screws, I like to use a speeder handle with a screwdriver bit on the end. It allows you to apply a ton more pressure and torque without stripping the head of the screw.

    Looking for a STRONG adhesive.

If it were me, I'd use the 3M Super Weather Strip Adhesive. It's designed to bond rubber to steel. The key is prepping the pieces properly. The other suggestions would work but it's not the application that the adhesives were designed for. I work for 3M and used to be in the automotive tech...

    Festool Meets A "Mechanic"

I don't know how many folks are aware, but Festool is getting into the body shop industry with some pretty nice dust collection and DA sander set ups. http://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/total-automotive-sanding-system-us/?WT.mc_id=CollisionRediect

    Mom, can we keep him???

Similar story. A while back, some friends and I were out for a ride on our motorcycles and stopped at local watering hole with an outdoor patio. As were sitting there, a young lady was kind of checking out my buddy, gave him a smile then a look of horror came across her face and she let out an...

How the previous owner of my new home added outlets

I discovered something similar in my home after I had bought my house. My upstairs bathroom would pop fuses if my wife was using her hair dryer while the tv was on in the other room which was on the same circuit. I started digging into it and found that lamp cord was run IN THE WALL from the...

    How I Make a Broom

I just stumbled upon this thread. Thank you for sharing the step by step process. I'm always very fascinated with how things are made and now I know how my ex-wife's daily driver was assembled.

    Solar lights

I bought mine at Fleet Farm for around $20 each. I don't have any pictures of mine but they have a rechargeable AA battery that lasts about 2-3 years before it needs replacing. I've had mine up for 6-7 years, have replaced the batteries once and they stay on almost all night long.

Garage door opening spontaneously - only partially

Are you sure that you don't have an emergency back up battery (looks like a motorcycle battery) in your opener? I have one in mine and I know that it doesn't have enough juice to lift the door all the way up when there's no power. Just a thought.

Motorcycle Lift In The Floor (Pic Heavy)

Belzona makes a product to fix the chip outs but it is not cheap. I was able to get my hands on a 5 gallon bucket of it to fix my garage floor. One of these days I will do a right up on how to "properly" fix cracks, chips, pock marks, etc. in concrete for you folks here...

Getting the door to shut tighter

What upndown meant is that the black bar with the 90° elbow attached to it, which connects the door to the trolley, needs to be shortened so that the opener can provide more down force. Once that is shortened, you'll need to readjust the settings on the opener to account for the added travel...
