Why did Snap-on quit making the hard handle stubby twice?

Wow. I have one in orange. It's Marked "FHKFD80A USA" on the drive side of the handle. No room on the shaft for the usual stamped markings. I don't think I've ever used it. I'll grab one of the compact head (FHC*) instead.

    threaded inserts for wood

I forgot to mention: have you considered barrel nuts? Very common in knock-down furniture like bed bolts, couches, etc. Ikea is very fond of them. They work pretty well with particle board, too. There's also large head low profile "furniture bolts" in various finishes. I've used them on stuff...

    threaded inserts for wood

I haven't had good luck with the first type you mentioned. The ones I've tried are some soft alloy with a shallow hex head drive for setting. They strip out pretty easily when installing. The straight brass ones work pretty well if you use the special setting tool that you can buy separately or...

    KRSC46 Starter box mods

Two 2" drawers and one set of slides will run you $500 (or more now). I added the shallow drawers to my KRSC pre-pandemic. You'll have to scrub the part #s from one of the same width cabs; they arn't listed in the KRSC parts list. SO lost my pre-2019 order history or I'd list them... I'm glad I...

I know this ISN'T Candlepower Forums, but I know there are flashlight fans here.

I have a first-run ARC AAA engraved with my name and CPF member number. I only see the following in my profile now: "Joined Dec 12, 2001" I found one of my posts from 2009 wondering why the member numbers disappeared; Looks like I was originally #365.

CPF member #1009 here. It was originally 8xx something and got reset when they lost the forum data in the early days. I still have, and use, my ARC AA and AAAs inspired from CPF. Sold the ARC LS with 3 different battery tubes to a collector for good money.

    JessEm clear cut stock guides

I toyed with them at the local Woodcraft an number of times over the years. I couldn't cough up the cost, even though I have a lot of other Jessem, Woodpeckers, Incra, etc. tools. That's a lot of money for a limited use stock guide. So, I tried the blatant knockoff Hongdui stock guides when...

    Multimeter

Warning on the used Fluke - check the battery contacts! I bought a used Fluke 51 II temp meter (with a $150 80PK probe) for a song and when I got it home and opened it up to change batteries the contacts had been eaten by leaking batteries with a horribly done solder blob to "fix" it...

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

I'm curious - can you tell us why you want to stay tubeless? I gave up on tubeless tires because of messes like that and went back to tubes. Seating the bead, even with a mondo 60 gal compressor was a PITA, too, depending on the tire brand/fit mostly. Tubeless is not at all good for...

Silicone lubricant with thick fluid consistency

Swimming pool stores have a clear viscous silicone lube for o-rings in small 1oz sizes. They have a thick paste in a small tub and larger tubes, too. Rainbow brand, IIRC. Definitely not the same as SuperLube mentioned above.

Gearwrench V koken Z mid length sockets

Replying to myself. An assortment of 15mm 3/8 drive. Williams are the same as Snap-On in length. The 14mm 1/4" drive Koken Zeal on the far right is for reference (I don't think they make a 15mm 1/4")

Gearwrench V koken Z mid length sockets

I have GW, Koken Z, and Icons in mid length 3/8. I prefer the Kokens - they're shorter than the GW and Icons. The Icons are in the middle length-wise.

Anybody have any luck fixing rubber weatherstripping

https://www.amazon.com/3M-08581-Black-Weatherstrip-Adhesive/dp/B00598XNT8?tag=atomicindus08-20 Available at auto stores. I found the small tubes at O'Riley's, I think.

Anybody have any luck fixing rubber weatherstripping

Agreed. But black, not yellow. I've used it for decades. For example, I had a small tear in rubber weatherstripping on a convertible top that's withstood a repair for years. Rubber to rubber, not glued to the car. They have small one-use tubes, too. Super messy stuff - have some acetone handy...
