Va.grouseman...here is a picture of the other side. The '8' very much looks like an eight and not a bad/sloppy casting. My guess is that the casting may have inadvertently been made with an 8 rather than the proper 6. I may have the only 978 with 6" jaws in the world...Haha. If only an error...
