I think your filter package should be in the shop. It will work better after the air has cooled. Afraid you will always have water in the underground portion and there is no way to drain it. Somehow need to eliminate the underground "U".

I don't understand why it needs to be cleaned. It is in the attic, should only be visible when you are up there. I don't think the dirt will affect the R value any. I would leave it alone and do a more fun project.

It may help some, but not if another bucket on top is covering the holes.

This is the easiest way. Its not that complicated. No need to tear out the existing wire.

I used to work for a mining company. Our products had silica in them of varying amounts, up to pure silica. The effects are cumulative as you say. However it never hurts to wear a dust mask or respirator. If you develop silicosis, you basically smother to death.

Is the coil voltage 120v? Probably is. Use the full load amps from the motor, and find a generic replacement. MCM, digikey, amazon. Shouldnt be too hard to find. Or just give it a spin.
