Anyone ever use an NTI Vmax Propane boiler?

Well that's kind of the issue. My garage is only 24X32. R 40 Ceiling and R20 walls. 1X 3' insulated steel man-door. 3X 36"X32" thermopane windows. And an allegedly R16 Steelcraft garage door that measures 8'X16'... That boiler seems like serious overkill.

    Critique my Boiler Heater Board.

Off topic question to the o.p.: Can you share the total cost for your setup and the specifications of the shop/building it's heating?

Anyone ever use an NTI Vmax Propane boiler?

I had an estimate done for a propane boiler install to heat up the slab in my garage. Irving Energy quoted me $7500 :shocking: to do a full install. This is the boiler they put in the quote: http://www.ntiboilers.com/index.php?page=VMAX $7500 is totally out of my budget, but was still...

Amazing deal on Bosch 12" DB glide mitre saw at Amazon.ca

After you factor in the exchange rate... wouldn't it still be deal even if you had to have it shipped to the USA? $322 Canadian pesos = $241 US greenbacks

Amazing deal on Bosch 12" DB glide mitre saw at Amazon.ca

I just bought one! Not sure if pairing the items in the order triggered the crazy savings or not... Can't really see it in the attachment but the break down was this: Bosch mitre saw laser washer guide and GCM12SD DB glide 12" saw Sub total $855.95 shipping...

    Garage Door Width - 2 10' doors or 1 20' door

I opted for a 16' wide door on my shop, because of the way the driveway and house were laid out in relation to the garage. If I had used 2 9' wide doors, one would have been next to impossible to get cars in and out of. However my 16' single allows me to drive one car in straight and then...

    Cordless drill storage

That's nice and tidy. I'll be replicating this for my own cordless tools as well.

    Attaching pex to wire mesh

I used a roll of mechanics wire that I had sitting around. Cable ties would have been easier to work with, but more expensive for me.

3/3 tec cable for this shop?

Thanks for the responses guys! I am leaning towards conduit anyway. I'm not overly familiar with the wholesale suppliers for wiring. I'm a mech. tech guy. Give me SolidWorks and a CNC mill or lathe anyday. Electrical.... not so much.

3/3 tec cable for this shop?

Hi guys, I've built a 32X24 shop with 10'4" walls in beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada. It's piped for hydronic (1/2" pex, 3 loops ~234' each) and insulated below the slab with 2" extruded polysyrene. Walls are r20 and the ceiling will be r40 blown in. a standard 3' insulated man-door and a 2"...

Moisture behind vapor barrier (new construction)

Senior: I can't remove the plastic altogether as it is required by code in my area.

Moisture behind vapor barrier (new construction)

Concrete was done last October (2013), framing in November 2013. Yes, as well as 2" extruded polystyrene. Currently, the garage is not heated. No tin, just standard osb sheathing and Typar.

Moisture behind vapor barrier (new construction)

Hi guys, Last night I went out to work on finishing my vapor barrier in the garage. Aaand what I discovered was that moisture had returned between my vapor barrier and insulation. (See attached pic) What I'm wondering though... is what would have caused this? Could it have something to do...

    New Nova Scotian board member

Hi guys, I've gathered lots of great info from this site over the years and I figured it was time to actually join. Currently working on a 32'X24' garage/shop, that has been an ongoing project for the last year and a half. I'll post a thread of the build at a later date. Looking forward to...
