I'm an HVAC service mechanic, I have two MC tanks and a B tank stored in my van at all times. I've been in the trade for 15 years, my father for 40 - never had an issue but heard stories. Mine are standing up and are in tank holders, tanks are closed.

I'd suggest Mega Ohming the compressor to determine it the is a problem with the start windings. Unfortunately you'd need to know the motor rating of the windings which may, or may not be listed on the electrical name plate. I'd also check your voltage because if its out of spec it will...

Re: what did you do in your garage today? This was yesterday, but got under my Jeep and added a high steer kit, new adjustable front track bar and upgraded bolts to grade 8 all around. I'm sore this morning!
