Scissor lift and race deck flooring

my scissor (also a Bendpack) sits on my Racedeck and has for well over a decade now (probably close to 15 years). One wheel had a rough edge that cut into the Racedeck a tiny bit, I hit the wheel with a sander to get rid of rough edge and no more issues.

    Shop is a mess.. help!

my issue with hiring a organizer is that most (all?) have never worked in a garage, sure they know how to make it look good but it wont be functional. My son-in-law is like that, he can make anything look good and in his mind it will make sense to him and be functional, good luck trying to...

how much do door air gaps affect A/C

I am looking for something for the garage door but I have a solid flip up door, I could not do a roll up due to my lift getting in the way. Home Depot has a brush like thing which will help but was looking for something solid to provide a better seal.

how much do door air gaps affect A/C

OK, ok, I am going to try some door seals. I had not done it because I really didnt think it was that big a deal and didnt think it would make a big difference. Door seals for garage door and weatherstripping for other door.

how much do door air gaps affect A/C

I have a mini-split in my shop, shop was built with 2x6 walls (R19 or R21 forget which) so I could put in more insulation and attic has R49 so I am super well insulated in So. Calif. Shop stays cool on 90-100 degree days until late morning or noon without A/C on, by cool I mean high 70~80ish by...

Anyone do nickel plating on vintage tools?

I have the Caswell kit, I started with the Eastwood battery powered kit and it worked well but I much prefer the Caswell kit with a power source, I never had any real issues with the battery powered one, it gave good results but I did have to change batteries mid-plating a few times.

Penalties for using new mini split AC before its inspected?

inspectors are a different breed, I had a electrician run power to my new garage and install a 100amp sub-panel in the garage. Also had to install "the minimum" one plug and one light. He called for inspection and was failed for insufficient ground, the inspector found the shop was grounded but...

Open tile vs Closed tile vs Epoxy

my issue with free-flow tiles is every time you drop a nut or washer, its going all the way to concrete. I drop too many to have a free-flow floor since I work on my cars in the shop. If it's strictly for looks, then free-flow is fine. I started with Racedeck when the laundry was in the...

    Please critique my garage

The front half of my garage is 20ft wide, when I put 2 cars in the front half I can't really work on them, just not enough room to the sides. The back half is 24ft. wide and much nicer to put 2 cars in but that has become my shop space so no cars. I wish i had done the smart thing when i added...

    Suggestions needed on defunct building

Don't know the difference between residential and commercial rules, but for my shop (residential) I had the bare minimum done, wire from pole to the panel, one plug, one light and done. It can't be that much to do that and once you have that, you can do some work yourself to add a few circuits...

Notching a foundation wall for a door? Most likely a stupid question.

Personally, since all the framing is there already, I would take out the door and put in a window. But because of the outside siding, I would likely just take out the door an put in a door with a window. Keep everything looking the same out side, an opening window so you can get ventilation...

    Interlocking tiles and fluid leaks

I have never picked my tiles up, I clean the tiles and if any got under the tiles, I don't care, its hidden under the tiles.

modine how dawg & ecobee - isolation relay needed?

my Hot Dawg is hooked up to a ecobee, I just wired it normal, no relays or anything. BUT my Hot Dawg is close to 20 years old, so that may make a difference on wiring it up.

    Flooring Recommendation for New Garage

my Racedecks are 20 or so years old now, front half of the garage where the car is parked are flawless, I park my daily car there and do my "clean" work on the other car, to me clean work means the assembly of the car, body work (currently hammer dolly work, when I get to the leading of the car...
