    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

The first picture does look close, it looks closer in the picture than in person, they all change a bit even depending on what angle you have the cabinet facing against the light. I think it comes down to a personal preference of color because it doesn't seem like any color matches perfectly.

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

I sprayed some paint samples the other day to compare to the cabinet. I found a good spot behind the emblem to check with. I tested Rustoleum Hammered Gold, Rustoleum Warm Metallic Gold, Rustoleum Pure Gold, Krylon Gold Metallic, and a couple of paints from ACE Hardware (I didn't write down the...

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

I got some work done on the saw in the last few days. I still need to clean the underside of the table, all the extensions, and the handwheels other MISC pieces. I haven't began and sanding of the cabinet yet, I haven't found the paint yet either. I think i want the X-O Rust Bronze but the...

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

Jay, Do you have the cast iron "L" bracket that connects to the rear of the splitter and the top of the rear arbor yoke? The very few guards I see online are missing this piece. I have only seen a picture of one, plus a few shots from original part diagrams. I believe I can model up something...

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

I found a few people on the OWWM.org site who are or were selling fences and rails for these saws. I am waiting to see if one is still for sale that I can pickup for a reasonable price. I noticed several people are looking for replacement handwheels, feet, blade guards, ETC. I had a light bulb...

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

Did a little more work on the saw today, will post pics in a few days. I planned on using the two extension tables and fence rails from the first saw on this saw, but........ Turns out the fence rails are a different shape between the early and late cabinet saws. The lower rail in the picture...

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

I just saw on OWWM.org an 3 wheeled bandsaw that was painted with Rustoleum Champagne Mist metallic, looks pretty darn close. I'm going to try to find some locally and give it a test run. Has anyone else heard of or used this color?

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

What paint did you use for your saw? I see a lot of people debating using Rustoleum Hammered Gold, XO Rustoleum Rust Bronze, Krylon Satin Caramel Latte, Dupli-Color Champagne Pearl, ETC. Everyone seems to agree that the hammered gold is the closest color match, but the hammered finish throws it...

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

I see that now, it's strange that mine says nothing below the "CRAFTSMAN". The motor is a 113.19XXX, so made by Emerson, but still could be original. I'd have to look again for the date code, what would this be exactly?

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

Nice saw bisley45!! You did a great job. One thing I noticed about our saws, is that the emblem doesn't say "Made by King Seeley Corp". My later 103.27270 saw does say this on the emblem, the later 113.XXXXXX saws were changed to "Finest Quality" or something close to that. The other thing I...

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

CKS1955, Are there supposed to be springs on the paws of the splitter/guard? Or do they just hang loose? Also, how do you refinish the splitter? Mine had surface rust behind the paws, I think I'll try and polish it and then wax it, similar to what you described doing to the cast top.

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

Here are some pics of the parts being cleaned up and painted. I'm going to try and get a little more done this morning before I call it a day.

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

I was able to work on the saw last and some this morning. I got it mostly disassembled, haven't started on the cabinet yet. I cleaned up most of the arbor assembly cast parts, and have them hanging and painted. I need to pick up some 1" wire cup brushes to be able to clean the underside of the...
