Yet Another Craftsman 150 Drill Press Revival

Huh, I guess it could look a little 'blue' in the photos, but all parts on the DP when I received it were grey. I repainted the base, table & motor mount using Rust-Oleum Black Hammered. The head assembly was just cleaned up and I did not paint it.

Craftsman Socket Set - Replacement Cases?

I've got a set of Craftsman SAE and Metric sockets - a 50-piece set sold new in about 1986 or 1987 - I can't recall which. The grey (Made in Taiwan) blow-molded case has seen better days, and I'd love to find a replacement. Assuming for a moment that will be an impossible task, I'm curious...

You might try Magnus at Joe Field Rd & Harry Hines for the casters.

    Craftsman 3/4 HP Motor (397.19241)

I just picked up this circa 1961 Craftsman motor. Seems it was originally supplied with the King-Seeley combination 8" Table Saw w/ 4" Jointer. The motor has a dual pully configuration. Should be a fun project. Any idea if someone has made reproduction Craftsman stickers for them?

That's what I was afraid of. Ok, new challenge then. Thanks!

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I've done a search, but haven't found anything specific (perhaps too many messages in this thread?) I've got a Paramo vise (Record equivalent I suppose) that has a gooched-up jaw screw hole. I'm not a welder, and was curious if JB Weld would be suitable for filling, and then a new tap for...

    Craftsman 102.2302 10" Band Saw (Walker-Turner BN560)

Yep, the wheels are true. Eagle-eyed viewers may note that it has a machined aluminum extension plate, as well as some extra bits for the upper blade guide. I have an adjustable speed treadmill motor that I was going to use on my drill press, but I think would be better suited to this bandsaw.

    Craftsman 102.2302 10" Band Saw (Walker-Turner BN560)

Acquired this beauty over the weekend. Likely a 1937 model, made by Walker-Turner, and sold through Sears as a Craftsman. Acquired from a former machine shop owner, but otherwise I received no real history on it. Plan is to tear it down, paint, rebuild, etc. Perhaps a few modifications as well...

Thoughts on this Craftsman Drill Press

Skip this one, and grab the bench top version that was listed yesterday.

Yet Another Craftsman 150 Drill Press Revival

Thanks. Glad I could inspire someone else! And while obvious to most everyone but me, yes, once I pulled the Pinon hub out and 'wound' it counter-clockwise, I was able to get the Quill Assembly to retract back into the head as it should.

Yet Another Craftsman 150 Drill Press Revival

Some Things Remaining to Be Done. The motor’s start capacitor is likely not keeping any sort of charge, and will not start the motor on every flick of the power switch. I should probably replace it in the near-term. The Quill Assembly does not spring back upwards – I’m thinking it should. Must...

Yet Another Craftsman 150 Drill Press Revival

After cleaning up the table, it is apparent that the top area near the pole is far too rusted to leave. So, this will be one of two items that I will repaint (well three, but who’s counting). My drill press was originally delivered in Black or Dark Grey – I can’t really tell, but having seen...

Yet Another Craftsman 150 Drill Press Revival

The wire wheel on a grinder is quite possibly one of the most entertaining tools that I own. Cleaning up otherwise dingy and unpleasing metal to a nice industrial shine was quite addicting. In fact, I found myself looking all over the garage for other things to clean up. I decided to have at a...
