What to ask contractors @ the beginning of a project?

Ask to see some of their previous work. When you look at their previous work, maybe you can even talk to the people to ask how satisfied they were with the contractor, etc..

    Romex in conduit?

I did the same thing. I ran my romex cable stapled along the joist in the basement and then into EMT conduit starting at the top of the block wall and down the concrete block basement wall to a receptacle. This is what the fitting I used at the top of the conduit looked like. It clamped the...

    30's style Sinclair Garage

Great pictures. With the pictures of the doors you took and the description, I see exactly how you built them. The doors look good. Thanks for taking the time to take the extra pictures and write your procedure. I appreciate it.

    30's style Sinclair Garage

Very nice Garage. I like it. I like the swing out doors you built also. Do you have any more pictures of the doors and any information on how you built them? I actually have 3 sets of swing out bi-fold doors on my 40'x60' garage that need replaced. I was hoping to build new doors...

Yes it always looks that way. Especially since I have not used it yet. I just finished building the bench less than a week ago.

    work benches... from scratch

Yes, the bar was already there. I was actually going to take it down, but now I am not sure. It works good for hanging clamps from. :)

    work benches... from scratch

I built this bench in my basement last week. It gives me a place to store some tools in the house and also work on some small projects when it is too darn cold to go out and work in the garages. I still need to get a coat of paint on it.

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

4 piece Pittsburgh Tools Heavy Duty pry bar set - Pass 6 Ton jack stands - Pass 3 lb Orange Dead Blow Hammer - Pass 3 piece detail brush set for $0.60 - Pass (1 nylon, 1 brass & 1 steel bristle brush) I figure if I was to only get one use from each brush it would still be worth the price. :-)

    Hydraulic Jack Problem

Thanks Hiball. I will check it tonight and gradually add some new fluid and see how it works. As to where the oil went, I'm guessing it gradually leaked from a worn seal somewhere over the years. I've never worked on a jack before, so I would not even know where to begin to look to try and...

    Hydraulic Jack Problem

Last weekend when I went to jack up my truck with an old 2 1/4 Ton hydraulic floor jack that I have, it pumped and raised the jack up ok (not great) with no weight on it, but once the jack gets to a certain height (still with no weight on it), I could only pump the jack up when the handle was...
