Epoxy Anchors - Help Needed please

Hi everyone, I am the OP from 6 years ago, just wanted to update per request from the thread resurector a few posts back LOL The epoxy on the second set of bolts as described in my last post from 2012 has held up perfectly over the years. I use the lift several times a week and watch the bolts...

Should I be concerned mopping with water in a non-heated garage?

One friend suggested checking into Windshield Washer Fluid, albeit expensive that would be a liquid that would not freeze. I think what makes it not freeze is methanol, and a quick google shows that doesn't seem to harm concrete...

Should I be concerned mopping with water in a non-heated garage?

I have a non-heated detached 3-car garage that's starting to get small cracks in the concrete (as they all do according to the contractor). This winter it will certainly get below freezing, should I avoid mopping as it gets closer to winter so water doesn't get in the cracks and tear it up...

Epoxy Anchors - Help Needed please

Latest news in my dilemma, I was going to drill out the hole to 7/8" and use a 7/8" wedge anchor, but after googling it turns out that the MINIMUM SPACING would be off. 7/8" has to be spaced further apart. So, I drilled out the hole to 7/8" and used a longer 6" inch long 3/4" anchor bolt and...

    POS Harbor fright tools

Ditto. Just installed a 2-post lift that had 2 snaprings needing installed, hated to burn cash for a good tool just for this, they were in a place that the tool was really needed to get them on. Bought the harbor freight ones for super cheap, worked good enough for that one job. I may never...

A different way to anchor a 2 post lift

ok, I was going by that page I linked showing all the forces in play. When I spec'd mine I eliminated the top crossbar ones because it burned 6" from the lift height, and my baseplate one still goes low enough for any car. My arms fit under a 68 vette fine. when I lift my grand cherokee to...

Finished a project and I finally feel worthy of participating on this board

Trade ya!! I have a large heavy table with a vise on it. Seriously, I'd love to have that setup, the car and the workspace. Nice work.

Epoxy Anchors - Help Needed please

I totally understand your point, but I'd rather play it safe. I need to look at an overhead style to get a better idea how strong the crossbar is. It might even be that some are designed to hold weight and some are just "elegant ways to hide cables", maybe it's both! I see your point though...

A different way to anchor a 2 post lift

How about instead of making a rude statement like that you instead just talk facts and make your arguement? Here are the facts that I am basing my opinion on. If you disagree with this, how about attacking the facts or ideas instead of personal attacks against the person (me)...

A different way to anchor a 2 post lift

I was disagreeing with the post 3 messages up, where it's stated that the concrete will barely know the lift is there. Literally tons of "upward" pressure on that concrete, and DOWNWARD as well as the inside takes almost all of the brunt of the load, not the entire plate. Sorry should have...

Just pulled the trigger on a 2 post lift - 9,000 lb. Atlas

FYI was a real pain but I bought and installed an Atlas bp9000 from Greg Smith and did it 100% alone, starting from driving to Delaware and having them forklift it on my trailer all the way through wiring and testing, alone. Getting off the trailer was done with a 2-ton engine hoist, and...

Epoxy Anchors - Help Needed please

Here's where I settled: Since I have some depth left in my concrete and I've only yanked out 1 anchor bolt, I am going to drill all the way through my concrete with 7/8" bit and try a longer 7/8" anchor. If that holds fine, I'll then go through all the ones that are backing out one by one and...

Epoxy Anchors - Help Needed please

I respectfully disagree (funny, I just posted a similar reply in another thread heh heh) but the outermost bolts have tremendous upward pressure. Here's a link: http://www.maxjaxusa.com/faqs/common-concerns.html Their example is 3000 lbs load, at 9000 each bolt is like 9000 upward force...

A different way to anchor a 2 post lift

I respectively disagree, the 2-post lift acts as a lever against the outer bolts at a multiple of the vehicle weight, likely several times the vehicle weight. Especially true if it's a baseplate lift. I would expect an UPWARD pressure on outermost bolts to share each more than 10,000 lbs. in...

Epoxy Anchors - Help Needed please

Ok, thanks for that information. I am still weighing the epoxy options, but can anyone tell me if this rod is one I can use to epoxy into the floor for my 2 post lift? http://www.lowes.com/pd_21289-37672-11036_0__?productId=3128205&Ntt=threaded+rod&pl=1&currentURL=&facetInfo= Would it not be...
