It does seem that the "Icon" line is the most pushed these days. Understandable as from all I've seen is a comparable tool to other "Big Box" brands. What I don't understand is, didn't your place in the market appeal to the guy who looks at price alone with little or no interest in quality...
I was gifted by my son an Icon low profile ratchet in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drives. I have been very pleased with their performance. Those are the only Icon tools I've used.
Is 24X24 too small? Yes, likely it will be. That being said I have a 16X20 shop that I can guarantee you is too small but I use the **** out of it because it's what I have! If all you can manage is a 24X24 then you'll make it work. I imagine somewhere is a guy with a 100X80 shop complaining...
My brother-in-law broke the switch on his HF cement mixer and I ended up with it. Yes, 2 bags is the limit but works MUCH better than the wheel barrow/shovel combination. For the price it cost me I'm pleased. I've used it for several jobs and have had no issues.
I did an 8' X 8' flatwork (no beams) pad by myself. Ridiculous amount of work (used sac-crete) and the finish looked terrible. $2000 sounds like a pretty good price!
We have some companies here locally that will draw up a set of "architectural type" plans without actually having the architects stamp. It's a good way to go.
Interesting. I started buying Ryobi because it was less expensive and money was an issue at the time. I continued with them because the battery interchangeability. I've never been disappointed with their performance except the battery powered circular saw.
My local HF is well stocked all the time. I was there this past weekend and bought an ICON 3/8's ratchet with the 20% off coupon. They had 2 full rows of ICON tools. I'm also impressed with the tool chest selection at my local store. They have seemingly the entire color line in stock.
Let me preface this with "I'm not a pro", just a guy keeping his families vehicles running. I've had good luck with the HF stuff I've bought generally. I mostly buy the once every 10 year stuff but I have bought a few items I like a lot and use pretty regularly.
This weekend I got a 20% off...
Like US General sitting right next to it.
As well as the reviews have always been on the US General boxes I'm surprised they would add another line. What are the similarities with the 2 boxes?
As many others have stated, you need to either get with an engineer to design what you will need or the truss manufacturer will be able to design it. Considering your location you don't want to go cheap here and design this yourself.
