I stopped by Greg Smith Equipment and checked out the Atlas four post in person. It looks identical to the Direct lift except different pumps, they told me they are made at different factories in China.
I ended up going with the Direct lift do to it being certified and also a longer warranty...

I have been using an older Monitor 41 kerosene heater I picked up used for the last 10 years to heat my fully insulated 900 sq/ft garage up here in New Hampshire, it's direct vented and takes in air from outside for combustion.
I keep the garage at 56 degrees in the winter when I'm not there...

I agree with your comments, but 1 point to note that the same design being fabricated at different plants in China can produce different quality.
The plant making the Atlas Pro 8000 which only has a 2 year structural/1 year electrical-hydraulic warranty might push the manufacturing...
I went to Greg Smith Equipment and looked at the Atlas Pro 8000 in the showroom, it looks physically identical to the Direct Lift Pro Park 8S, I was told that they are manufactured in different plants in China. I found a couple welds that looked a tad on the ugly side, so for a few hundred more...
I strapped my ceiling with 1"x3"s perpendicular to the trusses 16" on center, this is common practice and allows for 1/2" drywall without a problem, also gives channels to run wiring in between the strapping, it is against code to run electrical wires over the trusses around here.
I use "Crushproof" hose in my garage and installed the "Crushpoof aluminum door port" in my garage door. You have to make sure the hose fits tight around the tail pipe to avoid fumes, I have to wrap my 2" tail pipe to take up the space around my 2 1/2" hose, I'm sure they make adapters for this...
