    2x6 vs 2x4 garage walls

I would go with 2x6. You might not heat it that often, but it will stay cooler longer in the summer. One other thing not mentioned is that with thicker walls, there is less sound transmission, so it will be quieter inside. Gerry

4 post lift vertical posts lean in (not plumb)?

I would shim the base plate to achieve plumb posts. Gerry

    Gutter Installation Opinion

I think the whole saying is "Hammer (or beat) to fit; paint to match". Unfortunately it's getting more common.. Gerry

Flea Market find. Old gas/oil pump/? nozzle

I don't know. Did aircraft fuel nozzles in the '20s, if this is in fact from the '20s, require a twistlock? There seems to be no mechanism to hold the nozzle in the on position (let go of the handle and it stops pumping) That ring with the numbers stamped into it has a lip on the other side of...

Flea Market find. Old gas/oil pump/? nozzle

I went to an antique flea market type thing in south east Wisconsin, and saw this brass (advertised as 1920s) gas pump nozzle. I thought it would be fun to adapt it to the end of my garden hose. But now I am curious to what purpose it originally served. I tried looking for it online, but...

    Boycott Autozone

Basically, the employees were in a situation where their lives were in danger. The guy who ran out to get the gun was already outside and safely away, and could have stayed out there and called the police. I wonder if he did call. He then chose to go back and try to help the other guy...

    Boycott Autozone

The employee's big mistake was not punching the time clock on his way out the door. :)Then he could have returned "on his own time" to deal with the perp. You know how employers are trying to cut down on overtime... :dunno:  Someone said it before...That is the type of person I would...

light condoms, sometimes a little protection is a good thing

We call those PALs. For Protect A Lamp. When they changed over to T8 in the plant, there was a note in each case of tubes to not use them because of fire risk. When T8s get to end of life, they get hot enough to melt the PALs at the ends. Now they use the shatter shield lamps, which look...

    Bare wire in pulling lubricant

Why would there be a problem with a bare ground wire? It would be the same as steel conduit, wouldn't it? Gerry

Gladiator welded cabinets @ Sears for $99

My wife was all ready to go to Macy's for the Black Friday sales. She was complaining that the parking would ****, the crowds and checkout lines would ****. And the traffic would ****. She has had sooooo much practice, but hasn't gotten the hang of how to powershop properly. I sat back in...
