Go for it! I stole the idea from Pinterest... Does that mean points against my man card? :bounce:
You can find everything you need at Home Depot, I cut the shelf from scrap wood, stained with Ebony stain, used 3/4" pipe for the supports.
This looks awesome! My one suggestion would be, even if you don't think you will ever use it, run some cat5, coax, and speaker cable to some strategic locations. Probably less than $100 in cable all in and then your garage doubles as a man cave should you ever want to hook up...
So, it's been a while since I posted this... Since then I have done quite a bit of work including finishing the original Snap-On box, purchasing another, and painting the garage. =) Here are some photos of the finished work.
I've got various Sonos speakers throughout the house with the Sonos Play 1 in the garage. The single speaker is plenty loud for a three car garage and in the driveway.

I can't seem to figure out how to get the BB slide to release... any suggestions?
I agree with everything you said here, maybe "worth" was the wrong way to ask that question. If I change the color I am currently leaning towards the Snap-On white or lime green boxes I have seen. I had a buddy that had a large roller cabinet in white and it looked like a work of art!
