Thanks for the tips and videos!
I have another question - I've noticed something about installing wood over drywall in the spot abover the door, center where the bracket will go. Is this necessary or do I just need to make sure I drill into a stud or something?
I'm going to be installing a garage door opener in my newly built house when we move there in a couple of weeks. I've never done this before.
I bought a Liftmaster Whisper Drive from Lowes and have read through the manual a bit. I'm more of a hands on learner which can prove to be troublesome...
I went to Lowe's today in Plano and only saw I think Quikcrete and Rustoleum products/ Nothing resembling a "full kit" or Epoxy-Coat brand. I'd like to find this at Lowe's. I decided on Epoxy-Coat recently.

EDIT: I found where it said this. It was a local garage door installer's site:

@ ovilla - thanks for the link I will check it out.
@ Indy_500 - That is sort of my philosophy with this. Or maybe I watch Holmes on Hoimes too much! I know how often we use our garage door opener at our apartment right now and it is an old, noisey, piece of junk. I want to do it right the...
