Thanks for your input too! I've compared my USA ones with the Chinese sets in stores. It is a big difference. I want another set in case one of mine break. Warranty is lifetime but will be replaced with a Chinese tool - not my preference
Do you know if the metric set is USA? http://www.sears.com/craftsman-15-pc-3-4-inch-drive-metric-socket/p-00983114000P?prdNo=19
I have a good feeling since your SAE set was
Yes, it's really sad. Recently, I've been ordering some of the "online order" only items and every one has been USA. I think it's old stock they are clearing out. Not guaranteeing anything, but that's been my approach. With the store it's hit or miss. Best to find a not so popular sears hardware...
I just ordered these a week ago, and they all showed up today. Prices were comparable when I ordered because the ability to use coupon codes. I can't 100% guarantee it, but the worst that happens is you take them back to Sears for a refund. The biggest clue with finding the USA stuff that's left...

That's definitely something to consider and an arguable point. If there is a pattern or its a common occurrence by toolbarn, then I would say it may be actionable under a state's deceptive trade practices statute. I agree with your points though. At least they cancelled the other item ordered...

Yes, the Houston store I visited had several USA left. My dad picked up the same set in Oklahoma, and it was USA too. Makes me think it's last of USA before being replaced by another model because it says "clearance" on the sears website. Same thing happened with the 299 piece set and it was...
My local sears had several of this set made in USA. All other mechanic's sets were imported. Not too shabby for last of USA Craftsman
