If you find the USG plastic latches to be annoying they can be removed. Initially they were cumbersome and annoying but I have gotten used to them. Should they break over time they won’t be missed. HF did send me free replacements when I broke one accidentally.

I’d go with the 12 ton not necessarily for the extra weight capacity but the wider & more stable base which can be Important when maxing out the jack stand height and when tightening or loosening a difficult fastener.

On a pair of old CM red bottom cabinets, simply wiping off the surface dust, webs etc with a damp cloth or with windex leaves red paint streaks on the paper towels. Age and exposure to the sun probably affected the durability of the thin paint.
