    Best Air Tool Brands

IR ‘Industrial versions’ for die grinders; proven very durable for me. Straight & Right angle air drills - Sioux tools For Impacts (use mostly battery now); for air it’s MG Snapons, and a new lightweight Kuken 3/8.

Easy to use push to connect air hose fittings?

I’ve been using these past 5+ years - Coil Hose Pnuematics (Amazon) - click pic for full size photo. 2-step release - 1st collar closes air hose & releases air; 2nd collar easily releases tool w/no ‘pop’ They are heavier and can withstand years of floor drops.

    EGO String Trimmer

I just got the carbon shaft version, one level down w/o the IQ auto-feed. I though the larger battery & balance not to my liking on the IQ-feed model. So far, so good. I auto feed with only 1-string coming out of the hub; used for edging grass. Only wished the variable speed trigger had a...

    Battery Corrosion - Ford F250

Best to switch to AGM batteries. The integrated Ford clamp/cables are pricey to replace. Swapped my 2020 dual batteries at 3 months.

How does Cerakote age (engine application)

Recently had Cerakote (oven-cured version) applied to an air-cooled V4 fan, after some weak results from a vendor of the cad-plated look-alike (zinc dichromate). The surface is harder than powder coat & should do fine on a fan.

    Welding helmet thoughts

Miller T94 clear light is fine for my hobby needs. The EMI-triggered x-mode works great for off angle triggering. I normal sensor mode for aluminum, the red hot tungsten can flash back as soon as the EMI is gone. Agree with a previous comment, the head gear is gimpy depending on your fit. I...

    Tools of Japan

The Zeal 1/4”er is perfect for small HW with a hint of backdrag...my choice for anything interior or not greasy. A friend from Japan just brought me some Koken double-universal joints: 1/4 and 3/8.

So my close call with oil filter failure..

Had THREE tall K&N filters in a row fail over time on a Dodge Cummins....one was actively dripping really badly. Wasn’t aware of the mentioned recall. All three developed leaks from the spot welds on the canister nut. I only use the canister nut for removal now. The spot welds do have a...

That tool you have no idea you needed

Venhill ‘birdcage’ Tool to form the bitter end of cables for soldering to brass cable fittings. It was useful for adapting modern cables to old military vehicle pull-style t-handles.

Have any of you found a very light weight garden hose that doesn't ****?

griots garage sells a black/red tracer stripe hybrid polymer garden hose (and air hose too) that doesn't pick up the grimy patina the neon green flexzillas do.

    Tools of Japan

now inspired to procure another one. my go to universal joint for that past 40 years was a craftsman 3/8 impact ball/socket.....I have now toggled over to the 'skinny cow' Koken version. Coupled with short Koken metric sockets, ...perfect for metric flange bolts.

    Quietest Shop-Vac On The Market?

one more vote for Fein turbo II. Very quiet. It doesn't pick up water; it has a water sensor probes low in the bucket.
