Need Advice On Heavy Duty Millers Falls Drill

That's a funny story and I'm glad no one got (seriously) hurt. Good point on not being grounded...maybe that's enough reason to get rid of it. I looked at some of the online catalogs on the above link provided by RTM and it looks like back in the day one could buy a drill press frame to make a...

That's very helpful, thank-you. I found one very close in the 1963 catalog.

Need Advice On Installing OSB To Garage Trusses

Once insulated and my hanging furnace installed, I'm hoping to keep the interior temp slightly above freezing so the cars thaw during the winter. I have a new sloped floor with a drain so the water shouldn't collect in one spot. I also plan on priming and painting the OSB. I could use...

Need Advice On Installing OSB To Garage Trusses

A friend of mine is an electrician and has wired many garages with the corrugated metal ceiling. He said he punches through the metal and makes the connection inside the light. I'm concerned about the holes in the metal cutting through the wire insulation so he must have used some type of...

Need Advice On Installing OSB To Garage Trusses

I had the same thoughts regarding the "paint" but I think it is glue. I definitely plan on insulating the walls and ceiling. I was probably going to staple in R-30 batts.

Need Advice On Installing OSB To Garage Trusses

A friend at my church sells and installs the metal panels and I actually gave some thought to going that route but I was hung up on how to mount receptacle boxes (you're saying one will fit between the ribs) and also OSB or plywood would give me the flexibility to screw things to the ceiling if...

Need Advice On Installing OSB To Garage Trusses

Attached are three pictures of the trusses inside my 1970's garage. I'm currently working on wiring it and soon will be installing a ceiling. Can anyone tell me whether or not these trusses will support 7/16 OSB? I need to determine my intended ceiling thickness before installing receptacle...

Need Advice On Reattaching Old Door Knob To Handle

I don't but will try to locate the knob tonight and take a picture. I know I have it but couldn't find it the other night when I took the other pictures.

Need Advice On Reattaching Old Door Knob To Handle

We moved into an old farmhouse about 8 years ago and have done extensive renovations but have kept much of the old character. We love the old stuff. One of the door knobs fell off the half-bath door and I'm wondering if there is any way to reattach it. I believe it's original to the...

Need Advice On Heavy Duty Millers Falls Drill

My dad is 84 and is cleaning out his garage and has this heavy duty drill that he wants to sell. He got it decades ago from someone. Can any of you tell me who it was originally marketed for so we can list it for sale? It's 220 VAC with a gear reduction and I'm guessing plumbers may have used...

Need Advice On How To Strengthen & Reinforce Old Chicken Coop (Approximately 25' x 40')

I definitely agree about bigger being better. I have to measure the roof pitch yet but after I do I'll have to determine how the surface area of a triangular but much wider vent that fits my roof compares to a large rectangular vent.

Need Advice On How To Strengthen & Reinforce Old Chicken Coop (Approximately 25' x 40')

Does anyone have any advice on choosing gable vents? Plastic versus aluminum, etc. Is there a preferred brand the holds up better? I like the look of the triangular style that fit under the peak of the roof (I have to measure the roof pitch yet) but they are more expensive.

Need Advice On How To Strengthen & Reinforce Old Chicken Coop (Approximately 25' x 40')

Attached are some pictures I took yesterday. 9916 and 9917 are the interior. I apologize for the mess but this building became a staging area when we did the initial house renovations and we stored trim, doors, insulation, wood floor, etc in it. I've been slowly purging but I have a long way...

Need Advice On How To Strengthen & Reinforce Old Chicken Coop (Approximately 25' x 40')

finn, that's a good question and I think I have a good answer. We live in a small community and the original property was the local hatchery and chicken farm. There have even been historical publications printed at the local church and our property is on the historical list. We bought the...
