Another idea I am trying. Parallel to the roof attached to the underside of the 2x4 trusses I have attached 2 inch foam about 3/4 of the way up. This creates an air gap of the thickness of the 2x4. So with the sofit vents combined with a attic fan this air gap should help reduce the summer time...
I have converted several of my 4 fters to led. One can pick up the led bulbs on ebay for about 8-10 $ a piece. Takes about 10 minutes to rewire the old fixture. I prefer a mixture of 5k and 6k bulbs for my older eyes.
LED bulbs should last over 20,000 hours. I only get 3 years on the fluorescent bulbs. Fluorescent bulbs put out UV radiation. Easy to rewire a current flourescent fixture to accept t-8 led bulbs. I work out of my garage about 6 hours a day so the payback is real
quick plus the lighting is...
I bought 14 of these lights from ebay, sure brightened up the shop and once one rewires the first fixture, the others go quickly. I also highly recommend the t-8 led conversion. Lights supposed to last 30,000 hours versus the 2500 for the fluorescent and no ultra violet radiation.
