HVAC - Fan runs with AC or Heat, but WILL NOT RUN ON ITS OWN??

Sorta close to what I said maybe? What do I win :D When it comes to this sorta troubleshooting, best thing to always do is isolate and conquer. Always. There's good reason I choose an ecobee over the nest. The nest is like Apple products. They're cute.

Buying bulk propane in the summer?

My supplier also offers a pre-buy option, but I don't think it makes sense for me. I only use about 1.5 tanks a year. Prices aren't set until August, and only good Oct 1 - March 31. With me getting a full tank in the summer, and a top up in the winter, it seems to be working out.

HVAC - Fan runs with AC or Heat, but WILL NOT RUN ON ITS OWN??

Did this happen all of a sudden? Or after you changed something? I don't really know the answer, but is it possible the thermostat things you have a variable speed motor but you don't? I would jumper the wires for the fan. That'll tell you right away if it's a thermostat issue or not.

Buying bulk propane in the summer?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah about 5% change is what I've seen on my gauge as well from noon to midnight. Is there an automatic shut off at 80% or is it up to the driver to make sure it doesn't fill pass 80? The smaller 100 lb tanks I take to the gas station are weighed like the smaller...

Buying bulk propane in the summer?

Propane is about 15% cheaper now than the average of the last 2 years. I wanted to go ahead and refill my 500 gallon tank now instead of Sept/October when the prices typically go back up. It's only used to heat the house in the winter. My only question is with the really hot summer we're...

    Does cost REALLY dictate quality?

The smart money knows best value is found in quality items, without the hype of a brand name. If you know this, and practice it, then who cares what the other guy does with his money. Like they say, a fool and his money are soon parted.

Propane or Electricity to Fuel Home?

I was in the same boat a while back, when I bought out in the country. NG is a pipe dream at this point. I converted from an oil furnace to propane furnace, and I'm very happy I did. The increased heating cost is the price of living in tranquility, and having room to roam. The lower property...

Propane or Electricity to Fuel Home?

Do you have neighbors? What do they use? Any access issues for the propane truck?

Such a thing as long lasting dehumidifier?

Oh how I wish it was that simple. The compressor and fan run fine, but the condenser doesn't get hot and evap doesn't get cold. Sure symptoms of no refrigerant :(

Such a thing as long lasting dehumidifier?

I definitely know and agree with duty cycles and not over working anything. The last dehumidifier was a 70 pint, and given the house size and relatively dry conditions, I'd say the dehumidifier wasn't overworked at all. During the winter it would hardly ever come on, and in the summer I highly...

Such a thing as long lasting dehumidifier?

LOL. I might as well just leave the door and basement windows open all winter. On the topic of maintenance, I truly hope this is my dumb fault for not doing more. That's something I can correct, cheap quality designed to last 2 years is out of my hands.

Such a thing as long lasting dehumidifier?

Is there anything else to clean aside from the filter, and taking a vacuum with brush to the coils? The last Danby Premier worked really well while it lasted. The house is well within it's size specs, and it was a so called smart unit that'd turn the fan and compressor on as required. I had...

Such a thing as long lasting dehumidifier?

2 failed Danbys is enough for me. Time to give someone else a shot. I really wish they'd charge more, even 50% more, for something that lasted 10 years. It would MUCH better value than replacing this stuff so often. This is one of those times I'd love for a government agency to severely...

Such a thing as long lasting dehumidifier?

I'd like some help finding a dehumidifier that's build to last more than 5 years. My first Danby lost it's charge after 5 years. It wasn't worth fixing. Then I got another Danby, a little bigger and "Premier" model. And it didn't even last 3 years. Same thing, refrigerant leak. Danby...
