My supplier also offers a pre-buy option, but I don't think it makes sense for me. I only use about 1.5 tanks a year. Prices aren't set until August, and only good Oct 1 - March 31. With me getting a full tank in the summer, and a top up in the winter, it seems to be working out.

Did this happen all of a sudden? Or after you changed something? I don't really know the answer, but is it possible the thermostat things you have a variable speed motor but you don't? I would jumper the wires for the fan. That'll tell you right away if it's a thermostat issue or not.

Oh how I wish it was that simple. The compressor and fan run fine, but the condenser doesn't get hot and evap doesn't get cold. Sure symptoms of no refrigerant :(
