    Cheap lift?

I bought one of these at the end of last year. I went with A-Plus because they gave me a $440 discount for picking up from the warehouse and it was the only lift in this price range that was of a different design. Every other 4-post was the same Tuxedo lift with an adjustable ladder for the...

If you were making a switch from corded to cordless tools...

I have Makita 18V and Milwaukee 12V. My dad has DeWalt 20V. The DeWalt drill and impact have been put through their paces and haven't exhibited any issues other than battery life. Once he upgraded to the larger batteries, things have been fine. I've had Makita 18V stuff for over a decade, so...

Recommend tools for an auto body project

A painter's tool is great for separating body panels. I would also recommend some spot weld cutters and a center punch. The 3/8" belt file is a nice tool, but the one I got from Astro constantly throws its belt. If I were to do it again, I'd spend the extra cash for an electric one.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Put the carpet in my dad's 64 Impala.

    Milwaukee M12 drivers?

The M12 Fuel is a good driver. It is light, compact, and will surprise you on what it can handle. The Milwaukee Fuel tools are a heavier duty than the standard line, hence the price difference.

Anyone here own a HVLP turbine?

    I just used a Fuji Mini-Mite 4 to spray my dad's 64 Impala.

Harbor Freight engine stand any good?

I've had a 1,000lb stand since 2011. It has mostly had Chevy V8s on it. I've never had an issue.

    Lowes, now sears

Given Lowe's documented adversity to warranty replacements, that convenience isn't worth the price of admission for an inferior tool.

    Lowes, now sears

The Craftsman prices at Lowes are insane. My friend went there to get a breaker bar and a socket just to keep in his car for a roadside tire change. The Craftsman bar was $35, made in China, and was 15" in length. Right next to it, the Kobalt breaker bar was $23, made in Taiwain, and was 18"...

6 point vs 12 point sockets

I have both 6 point and 12 point sockets. I think between my impact and non-impact sets, I have each size in both configurations. I don't work on cars professionally, but I do wrench on cars more often than the average hobbyist. The majority of 12 point stuff that I have come across is within...

6 point vs 12 point sockets

The only 6 point wrenches I own are the SK X-Frames. I love the wrenches, but they can be a pain to line up some times.

    Effective Sand Blaster Option

I've had a Barrel Blaster for a few years now, and it has served me well. It's like $300 and made in the US.

Has HF really stepped up their game with hand tools?

I've had a set of their shallow SAE impact sockets for 10 years without issue. I haven't tried any of their ratchets, wrenches, or other hand tools yet. However, their engine stands, jack stands, engine hoists, porta power, and stud welder have all been perfectly fine for my needs.

Stickers on toolboxes- yes or no

Absolutely. Stickers belong on tool boxes. Half the time, I use the stickers to identify drawers when people ask me where something is. "Check the Wilwood drawer."

    Does cost REALLY dictate quality?

I've been burned by cheap things and I've been burned by expensive things. It's tough finding that balance of value.
