Installed my Legacy Industrial HD39 Densifier/Waterproofer this past weekend.

    It says $209 -> $199 (for $10 off.)

Etching, grinding, prep for epoxy issues

I didn't mean to try to scare you away from a useful procedure -- if it needs to be done, then it needs to be done. I pictured a scenario where you did a good job grinding the surface, and water is soaking in immediately with no beading... but you were going to continue doing extra work because...

Etching, grinding, prep for epoxy issues

Grinding is tougher than some people make it out to be, and the results are quite variable depending on the (condition/makeup/hardness) of the concrete. I've ground a couple different floors and the results were radically different. The first floor required tremendous pressure to achieve any...

    Epoxy flakes application

I think you might be overthinking it. At least the last time I did it, rolling over a few "overspray" flakes didn't cause any trouble. The end result is going to be the same: flakes more or less randomly distributed throughout the coating. Whether there are a few that might be "more buried"...

Diamond concrete grinder or Acid etching or Both

You definitely need to be using the angle grinder at a flat angle -- even this is difficult at times, forget about doing it edge on. That would make it absolutely impossible to do a proper job (and I think you would see after about 4 seconds how horribly uneven your floor would look.) You...

Cleaning up a dirty concrete slab floor?

Clear epoxy is definitely an option, but the experts will tell you that none of the epoxies are truly "clear"... they have a slight amber/yellow tint to them that can eventually become more pronounced with long term exposure to UV rays. There are a number of options for durable clear coats...

Shop Floor Epoxy's, Which ones to use/stay away from. Also Drylok ?

My family has some cottages on a lake in Starlight, PA which is about 6 miles away. Every summer we dump a bunch of money into the Hancock economy, being the only place nearby with shopping options. I am quite familiar with the Grand Union (the Great American is gone), Little Italy II...

Epoxy the good, the bad, the ugly

I concede to your point here -- what I meant was, "the good and the bad" is what the creator of this thread chose as the subject line, and is thus a rough guideline as to where the conversation should be focused. Based on the subject line, you (and others) have a perfectly valid right to post...

Epoxy the good, the bad, the ugly

This is called "full disclosure". If he had tried to disguise his intentions, you (and others) would be complaining about his ulterior motives. If you aren't interested in discussing or reading about the merits and drawbacks of epoxy in this thread, then you are free to go create your own...

Epoxy floor using Sherwin Williams Tile-Clad

Here is another guy who top coated his: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73603 That's mine. I have done 3 floors this way with no issues; Tile Clad base coats with a topcoat of ArmorSeal Rexthane (a moisture cure urethane). It is stinky stuff and takes some skill to...

    Epoxy-Coat without Primer???

It seems to me that, when you do the math carefully, it is an absolute no brainer to do the primer coat. The vast majority of the cost and time of installing an epoxy floor is preparing: doing the research, choosing and buying supplies (not just the epoxy but the roller covers, squeegees, rags...

    Smoothing your rough floor

The spiked roller is used to "pop" any entrapped air bubbles before the product hardens... The spiked shoes, on the other hand, are simply shoes with a minimal surface area in contact with the floor. They let you walk on wet epoxy to broadcast flakes or perform other tasks (removing bugs...

Garage floor epoxy project: lots of pics

Hey, whats the deal with necro'ing my thread from 2+ years ago? :) The floor is holding up great... when clean, it's the same as the day I put it down. There are no scratches, tire marks, or other defects. So far, I am very pleased with the results. The glow-in-the-dark flakes are cool, but...

Do you guys leave your garage door open when coating?

I actually did the part outside with clear coat (but NOT the colored base coat), and covered the transition/tape line with a rubber threshold. This way I have all of the concrete coated and protected, but the outside part is visually distinct from the "inside" part but in an intentional way...

Do you guys leave your garage door open when coating?

You can get a rubber garage door threshold to bridge the "line" that you're talking about. Harbor Freight has them for under $40 last time I checked... you just cut it to the correct length and glue it down with construction adhesive.
