New house, new garage..well new to me

With some help I got half the slatwall up, the sheets are pretty damn heavy. I really like the contrast of the black on steel More importantly I installed my new mini-split 9000 BTU Inverter Heap Pump Not a brand I would recommend to others but I got a really good deal

New house, new garage..well new to me

That is true, most people having their house built probably don't think it is worth it to have the garage insulated so they don't ask the builder to do it.

New house, new garage..well new to me

Just bought a new house. Old home was 1944 construction along with detached garage. New house is 1981 construction with attached garage, I'm much happier with it. Garage will be a shop, place to drink beer with buddies, place for my Polaris 500 and I guess I will let the wife park in there...

Why not Through-The-Wall instead of a Mini Split?

You can get Heat Pump through the wall or PTAC units as well. I had a PTAC in my last garage and it got the job done and would for you too but this is why I am putting in a mini split on the new garage 1. Efficiency, the PTACs or through the wall units will use twice the electricity as a mini...

Really need a pro to guide me thru Honeywell WiFi

Just came back to your thread and seen you got it figured out. So you can probably ignore my private message as it says exactly what you found out. So did you reinstall the 8000 with a true common and all is well? BTW I understand the portable comfort control. For those who don't get it, you...

Really need a pro to guide me thru Honeywell WiFi

You wanted the new Vision Pro 8000 thermostat http://yourhome.honeywell.com/home/Products/Thermostats/7-Day-Programmable/VisionPRO+8000.htm It will not require an EIM to connect to the remote as the 9000 will. Honeywell uses redlink to connect their devices, not your wifi connection. The wifi...

    Heat Pump Diagnosis

It most likely does have an outdoor txv along with indoor txv. I cannot speculate what the hell is going on through a message board description. I have replaced a few Trane indoor expansion valves in the last couple years that were less than 3 years old. Should have parts warranty but...

minimalist man cave on a budget.

Very nice! That gives me some inspiration for m new garage. Porcelain tile scares me a bit, if you drop a 12" crescent wrench isn't it going to break it?

    Wall AC Questions

Like Smokey said mini splits are ****! But if you already have that unit give it a go. Performance will be very similar to a PTAC, if you are going from no ac and plan on cooling the garage all summer get ready for a shocker on the electric bill.

    Need new AC/furnace

Not sure if they sell Keeprite in the states. I've been a HVAC service tech for the last 4 years and was a maintenance guy for 6 years, I do not claim to be an expert so this is just my opinion. How many square feet are you conditioning, what climate do you live in? Are there any rebate...

Radiant heater help with 9' ceiling in garage

After a second look this heater is the same thing I see in restaurants with outdoor dinning areas. Usually mounted at the 45 degree angle pretty close to the corner of the ceiling and wall. The dinning areas I have seen them in are open to outside air. Notice in the Warnings it says heater may...

are the contactors on condenser units Universal ?

If it is a heat pump and has a single pole contactor make sure to go back with a single pole, the one side always being powered acts as a crank case heater when it is cold.

Radiant heater help with 9' ceiling in garage

Why is a unit heater a poor choice? I'm not sure how much heat comes off the top of this radiant heater but if it is enough to light wood on fire through 5/8" drywall from 1 foot away, I would not install it anywhere.
