Small Parts Rack Build For 28 HF Containers

Excellent build! I work much better with metal than wood, so I had planned to build mine similar to yours (minus drilling all the holes and doing the plug welds!). I've been collecting the parts bins, but seeing how you arranged some of yours really helped my think outside the parts-BOX :)...

    Mini Split Operate State

I'd love to do that on my Mr Cool Mini split as well. Mine has an IOS app, but functionality and data is severely limited. I know what I have the temp set too, but I'd love to know what the Mini Split thinks the temperature in my garage is, as well as an insight into all the other data it's got...

Tire marks on NEW RaceDeck floor !!!

NEWS FLASH... New study shows that tires are dirty! After an extensive research project spanning several seconds, it was discovered that tires get dirty after driving on roads that have also been discovered to be dirty. Please tell me this entire thread is a joke. I can not accept that this is...

Help with Outside unit placement for Mini Split

I'll be watching this post as I need to do the same thing with mine. I installed my mini-split about a month ago, and changed my plans for placement of the outside unit during the install. I bought a wall bracket and had planned on placing it there, but hit all kinds of issues with direct sun...

    Costco - Mr Cool DYI

It's around 900 sq ft. Most of the ceiling is insulated with rooms above the garage, just a couple small sections I haven't insulated yet. Garage doors are also factory insulated. One long exterior wall has no insulation at all (yet) and this still seems to do a very good job.

    Costco - Mr Cool DYI

I purchased an 18k unit from Costco, and finished the install (except for line set cover) a couple days ago. I'm very happy with the performance of the unit. It is amazing to walk out to my garage and have it be comfortable inside to work, with 95 degree heat outside. It is unbelievable how...

    Looking for much needed inspiration

1st thing I would do is get the mower and snow blower out, as suggested above. That will free up a lot of floor space. I'd also consider some shelves or cabinets on the walls so you can get small items up and off of your work surfaces. I'd also keep as much as you can on wheels for flexibility.

    WiFi light bulbs

One thing to consider though...If the lights are on a switched circuit, then they become useless if someone that doesn't know better turns the switch off. For that reason, I only use Hue bulbs in my house for lamps that are always plugged in to a non switched circuit. I chose to use Lutron...

    Mini split air handler placement

I was worried about the limited width of the long bay and the air bouncing back to the unit. I think over the door is going to be the best option for that reason and the fact that I'm mostly concerned with climate controlling that area. I can always put up a curtain between the shop and parking...

    Mini split air handler placement

I hadn't considered a dual zone system. I'll do some research on that. The long bay is about 48' long, but narrows to about 8' at the far end. I'm in a neighborhood with a small lot size, so I really appreciate the extra garage space, but I would have designed it a little differently given the...

    Mini split air handler placement

Currently in the research/preparation phase of a mini split for the garage. One thing I'm not too sure of is where to place the indoor air handler. A couple things to consider: the 2 short bays are for car storage, the front of the long bay is where my bench and shop tools will be, and the back...

Electrical Wiring 4 Dummies - What can I do here

The x10 dimming modules are only designed for a light. The appliance modules are designed for a heavier draw, but are not dimmable. Unfortunately, i think you would need an appliance module for the fan.

    Where you put the TV's?

I don't have any pics with me at work, but I have an old school 19" on one of those hospital-like wall mounts in the garage. I like it. Keeps the TV high so it can be seen over any cars/junk in the way, and also you can swivel it around depending on where you are in the garage. Definitely need a...
