Hey you guys pick heavy stuff up… what do I do with this thing?

Your request is a little unclear, saying you need to get the wheels and engine off, and get this thing in the air. Frankly there are only a few common ways to undertake those tasks, and if you're working on equipment this large it seems like you're probably already aware of the options...

Block and Footer Foundation - Insulation and slab considerations, correct details

Glad I clicked on this thread, I'm in Gaston County and it's interesting to see some local-ish folks chiming in. I built my shop in the early 2000's, it's a 32'x50' concrete block, the site had a quite a bit of elevation change so the back wall and parts of the side wall are below grade, about...

    Lowes deals/sales/clearance

I’m seeing full price of $179. Is this deal only at a particular location? If I could find one for that price I would buy it, one of those infrequent use tools….but when you need it it’s often the only option.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Agree, it's obviously some kind of one-off adaptation. But I have to wonder what the dynamic jaw and casting is from? The main body is a 926, a rather large vise, so the dynamic jaw would have been from a larger vise to be that much taller. Did Starrett make any vises larger, or taller? Of...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Noticed a very unique Starrett 926 on the large auction site. Vise has an odd raised rear jaw that seems to be fastened to the original lower jaw. But oddly the front jaw itself is higher and lines up with the increased height rear jaw. At first glance it looks like a smaller main casting was...

    Contractor markup on equipment rental?

What do you mean “is he expected to just eat the extra $4k?” If he agreed to an overall price for the work up front, and that work is performed (which it sounds like it was) then yes, of course he is. Picking it apart after the fact wouldn’t change the outcome, from a contractual perspective.

Thanks for the detailed information, hard to argue about perceived flex when you present it like this.

Stanley sockets at Walmart, early 2000's

A small set of Stanley SAE wrenches, from the late 90’s, after the Proto / Stanley merger. Made in USA. They look identical to the Challenger wrench line up, which was Proto owned. This was my travel wrench set for many years and I’ve really enjoyed using this small set, only downside was the...

    Advance Auto Parts - 2024 Q4 clearance

Are these deals in store only, or can you find them online? I’m in North Carolina and have no stores closed my near me, and the only clearance deals I’ve found were the original online deals that you could add to your cart but never get the order to go through. Thanks

Do I Need a Chain Lever Hoist?

Dr Clyde said all that needs to be said ^. For pure vertical lifting chain hoists are a better option. For awkward lifting, lifting with a need to adjust the item in mid air, and all kinds of pulling the lever hoists are better in my opinion. I have several ranging from the small quarter ton...
