    Eagle grip pliers

I bought a set of eagle grips, they look awesome. I have too many originals to actually need them so they reside in the box next to the old ones for now. the old ones with “Craftsman” on them or any imports I may have had are used for welding clamps.

    Drill Press Vice Suggestions

I'm pretty sure we are working on vastly different sized work. My 14" drill press would likely fall over if I took the 6" vise off my Bridgeport (weighing close to 80 lbs or so?) and put it on the drill press. I do have a 6 inch cam-lock Heinrich on the drill press now. That's maybe 8 lbs?

    Drill Press Vice Suggestions

I agree with this! I have a couple Heinrich vices, love them but for all around use, the ability to move around the Vice is super important. With smaller holes, I want a small enough vise to float around so the punch mark or existing hole can move in line to the drill. I can't imagine using a...

    Eagle grip pliers

I really like the photos of the factory and display boards. I think there is room in the market for someone to make the best product even if they have to be prices disproportionately. I know I could not ship a pair of locking pliers to China for what I can buy a set for. I for one will pay up...

Drilling out rivets from alu sheet

Most guys used an air powered drill motor. High rpm and good control is important. My experience was with a 1/4" electric drill that runs 4000 rpm. Often, you can just get the head to come off and a small punch with a light tap will pop the rest out. Set rivets often have a dimple on the...

    Chuck vs chuck

Indexmill, I can't agree with the 25% cost. It's more like 15% of the cost. I dislike buying chinesium products because they rip off good manufacturers and worse, put them out of business and make the good stuff unavailable to us. With that downside, buying used doesn't help much. For the...

    Chuck vs chuck

I'll post a couple of my chuck photos. The Super chuck on my drill press is one I got for free years ago. It is great but runs out. The rebuild kit cost a couple hundred bucks. It works excellent in the DP. My other super chucks are US made and run pretty true.

    Chuck vs chuck

https://www.shars.com/products/toolholding-workholding/drill-chuck-tool-holders/1-2-keyless-drill-chuck-with-morse-taper-2-integral-shank-13mm-1 That would be what I would get. I have an SPI which was made in Taiwan quite a lot of years ago. I use it in my milling machine for doing small...

    Chuck vs chuck

The albrecht chuck could cost more than the drill press. Excellent tool, no argument there. I'd buy one of the precision chucks pre mounted on an arbor from someone like Shars. It's chinesium but pretty well vetted by the folks who run that pace. I have come to trust them for low cost items...

    Chuck vs chuck

All things being equal (run out, capacity and finish quality), I would go for the smaller of the two based on the additional drive pin drive holes and the fact that the smaller size will get in the way less and fit more places. In the photos, the smaller looks better finished too.

    Tools from the old world

I bet no one ever thought about one of these squares! I love this one and have used it as long as I can remember. It is pre-1960 for sure.

Vise help please. German designed, shear pin?

I believe this wise came over our n a container from Germany in the middle d 1980s. I’m more confident of it coming from Germany than the date. My sons worked for the German company I got it from. It seems marked with an s

Vise help please. German designed, shear pin?

I have an unknown brand vise of around 5” with a funky design with the nicely supported dynamic jaw is in the rear and moves towards the work surface. I have had it for most of a year and am pressing it into service finally. First time I used it I felt the onset of pretty strong vertigo yet I...
