    Restoring a Radio Flyer

Hey, I haven't posted on here in a long time. Pretty cool to find that others are into restoring old Radio Flyer wagons! Was helping my dad clean out behind the shed at my folks place, and found the Radio Flyer wagon I had when my sister and I were little kids. It is 25+ years old and was...

    Pawn Shop Blues

Two of the timing wrenches were Craftsman, and the screwdrivers were US made. Other than that, the other four timing wrenches were no-names.

    Pawn Shop Blues

On average, I can get a handful of items, i.e.- a couple screwdrivers, a handful of loose sockets (5-8 sockets depending on size), and a 2 or 3 wrenches (3/8-3/4 size) for around $5. Today I had two old 4-in-1 screwdrivers and half a dozen timing wrenches, and the guy wanted $10.

    Pawn Shop Blues

I usually would pick up a few small odds and ends, and most of the time when I'm there it's not too busy. I don't go for big ticket items because I'm on a budget. Usually I'll get a short chat, "hey, how's it going? how's the family?" from an older employee when I come to pay at the counter...

    Pawn Shop Blues

I try to, but there has been 2 other pawn shops in the area that have closed in the past year and a half. It's not so much that I need the tools I find, but they're nice to have when you do need them.

    Pawn Shop Blues

Has anyone ever been to a pawn shop to search for loose tools (random stuff in bins), and depending on who rings you up at the counter, the price might increase significantly? I like the selection that my local shop has, but predictably, when a particular employee rings up my order, (I'm...

    Snap-On Screwdriver Cap

Here are some pics of the cap I made for my Snap-On SDDM80 screwdriver. I cut the end off the 1/8" brass plug to try and make it flush with the rest of the end, but it became a little bit of a rough cut. Oh well, first attempt. Works good too.

    Snap-On Screwdriver Cap

Oh yeah, I have a S-K 73517 magnetic tip screwdriver as well, also missing a cap. The 3/8" brass bushing didn't fit it, it was a tad too small. So I will try and find something to replace it, and let y'all know what fits that too. :)

    Snap-On Screwdriver Cap

If anyone else has a problem finding a cap for this particular screwdriver, a Snap-On SSDM80, I picked one up recently at a pawn shop and it didn't have a cap as well. So I gave it some thought and sort of figured that the thread looked a tad familiar. So I took my screwdriver to Lowes, to the...

Opinions on 1/2" Drive Breaker Bars/Flex Handles.

Just thought I'd get back to you all on my decision. After some thought, I opted for the Proto J5468, 18.5" bar. I found a good deal through Zoro Tools, in Illinois, and figured it was worth it. I like to support small business if I can, and they offered free shipping this month, so I gave it...

Rebuilt a Husky 22201 USA 3/8" Dr Ratchet

@TheSilverOne- I'm not so sure about that. I've seen a Blackhawk 1/2-3/8-1/4 drive socket set at a local pawn shop around here, everything in the case is stamped "USA." The 3/8 Dr ratchet in that case looks nearly identical to the Husky I have in appearance, size, and weight (I picked it up...

Rebuilt a Husky 22201 USA 3/8" Dr Ratchet

@Notwerk- Not sure yet, it's hard to tell because it's double pawl now, so it sounds like as soon as one clicks, the other is a 1/2 click away? Might have to go in the hall closet and break out the stethoscope, heh.

Rebuilt a Husky 22201 USA 3/8" Dr Ratchet

Thanks for the comments everyone! I'll keep my eyes peeled for more "tools needing a new lease on life" and try and do another rebuild with pics. My dad was a teacher so to me it's fun to be able to fix something and learn something new in the process. @Exceller- Here's a pretty good start...

Rebuilt a Husky 22201 USA 3/8" Dr Ratchet

Hello everyone, About a month ago, I was in a pawn shop, digging in the loose tool bins (like I usually do), and came across a Husky 22201 3/8 Dr. Ratchet, labelled USA. Upon further inspection, I realized it was broken and missing some of its "guts," but the chrome was in pretty good shape. I...

Opinions on 1/2" Drive Breaker Bars/Flex Handles.

I see a lot of "yays and nays" for the HF breakers. I've never used one so I don't have any opinions on those yet, but I have used an older "vintage" Craftsman 1/2" Dr breaker before, that belongs to my dad, I like it a lot, but I wouldn't put too serious a load on it as it is sentimental to...
